Gimenez is a very good defensive player. He’s a very bad offensive player.
Do you think differently?
I don’t know guys who hit 9 HR a year and can barely hit .250.
Clement had more HR ffs
But I’m sure he will make a really cool catch like Varsho does.

The one I wrote yesterday was yes towards Shatkins, but 4 years ago there was 4 pages of posters here arguing with me about it actually when I just wrote a comment about how much Fisher sucked, and the responses went on for 4 pages lol so some here actually did defend him.
Good thing there's history of you posts, here's what I wrote without quoting anyone.

That's just some of the crap, not going to post them all, but there's definitely a group here who will defend guys, who don't like your take on things with this management group no matter what.
Literally the best thing any of those responses says about Fisher is "I don't mind giving him more of a look".

Definitely felt Jays needed a 3rd baseman more than a 2nd baseman, with guys like Wagner, Horwitz or Clement, but hey fix that defense more than offense, that's more important I guess.
Not the tools he supposedly has, or raw power and speed he supposedly has.... no none of that lol

Yeah, he hit for power in the minors and ran very fast. Those are just facts.
That response also highlights the things he sucked at. Seems like a pretty well-rounded analysis.
Pretty much. Also, the Jays sucked when they acquired him and gave up nothing in return.
Not sure why in 2024 Derek Fisher is being brought up.

Maybe he ran fast that's about it, but he was a fringe player and always was, but the hype Shatkins had for him was such a bad take, they poorly evaluated him as being a big piece for this team going forward, something this group has failed at doing since they have been here, they suck at evaluating players.

We need to send much more then that for those two. Stros did ask about Vlad before wonder if there is something to be done about one for one if both teams could work out extensions for Vlad and Tucker?

Stats wise not much different last year, Soto had some more HR and runs, Vladdy had a much better average and no Judge behind him to drive him in. Imo they're not that much different in stats, besides Vlad having a gold glove and Soto doesn't, so this argument about Vlad not being close to Soto in salary isn't really accurate, especially if people think Soto is worth that kind of money because he has a good bat.

Couldn't we have just played Leo Jimenez/Orelvis/Wagner and Ernie Clement in the infield, with Bo and Vlad, saved the $97 million owed to Giménez, and used that money to add a bat?
Honestly, it's hard to justify paying over $23 million in a year for a second baseman who's primarily a defensive specialist (basically Teo money in 2027), especially when the team needs two bats, a starter, and a closer.
It feels like they're running this franchise into the ground, and it's really disappointing to watch. The money's already running thin, and they haven't addressed any of the key needs on the roster.
Yeah, I agree that glove-first players haven't historically been paid very well.
I don't see much "furiously defending" going on. I see a handful of people who are higher on Gimenez and/or less high on Horwitz and therefore think it's fine.
