Interestingly enough Gimenez has some pretty prominent home/road splits... perhaps he might fare better away from Progressive Field. He's also better at hitting with men on base/in scoring position and is one of the "clutchest" hitters over the last 3 seasons.

If the Jays didn’t have a limited budget then this deal would be fine but they do.

They’ve spent more than 1/2 of it and got worse offensively when the number one priority was to get better offensively.

They really need to dump some salary (Bassitt, Springer).

Shapiro and Atkins obviously thought that. I thought you were talking about Jays fans who were not

The one I wrote yesterday was yes towards Shatkins, but 4 years ago there was 4 pages of posters here arguing with me about it actually when I just wrote a comment about how much Fisher sucked, and the responses went on for 4 pages lol so some here actually did defend him.

Good thing there's history of you posts, here's what I wrote without quoting anyone.
Getting sick and tired of seeing this Fisher crap on the Jays. They're just keeping him around to hopefully justify their trade with Sanchez, but Shatkins are obviously to weak to admit they failed on that trade, but they keep giving him the chance because they felt it was a good trade... Let's go back and look at what Atkins said about Fisher when they acquired him. "We love Derek Fisher. Really, really excited about adding him to this core. He'll complement us well."

Really really excited to acquire a joke of an MLB player who can't hit and who can't catch fly balls, yeah we love this guy..... Seriously this guys a joke

Here's some of the replies I got
Don't mind giving him more of a look. Drury I have issue with if he makes the team.
Biagini and Sanchez are barely MLB players too. Didn't like giving up Stevenson but he's not rated in the top 30 Astros prospects. As it stands now the trade is junk for junk.

I don't like Fisher but he does have some interesting tools. He has a high exit velocity, power and speed.
Fisher's ISO in AAA has been above .200. His raw power rating is 60. Derek Fisher - Stats - Batting | FanGraphs Baseball Speed rating is 70.

The problem is as you have alluded to is he strikes out a lot and doesn't get on base. I have not been impressed with his defense either. It's not like defending Loui because Loui is old and declining. Fisher has tools and is younger. We have seen emergence of players in baseball around 26-28.

That's just some of the crap, not going to post them all, but there's definitely a group here who will defend guys, who don't like your take on things with this management group no matter what.

Literally the best thing any of those responses says about Fisher is "I don't mind giving him more of a look".

Definitely felt Jays needed a 3rd baseman more than a 2nd baseman, with guys like Wagner, Horwitz or Clement, but hey fix that defense more than offense, that's more important I guess.

Not the tools he supposedly has, or raw power and speed he supposedly has.... no none of that lol

Yeah, he hit for power in the minors and ran very fast. Those are just facts.

That response also highlights the things he sucked at. Seems like a pretty well-rounded analysis.

Maybe he ran fast that's about it, but he was a fringe player and always was, but the hype Shatkins had for him was such a bad take, they poorly evaluated him as being a big piece for this team going forward, something this group has failed at doing since they have been here, they suck at evaluating players.

Hopefully Vlad plays hard ball with these clowns now, and says he wants Soto money.

Vlad gold gloves 1
Soto gold gloves 0

Stats wise not much different last year, Soto had some more HR and runs, Vladdy had a much better average and no Judge behind him to drive him in. Imo they're not that much different in stats, besides Vlad having a gold glove and Soto doesn't, so this argument about Vlad not being close to Soto in salary isn't really accurate, especially if people think Soto is worth that kind of money because he has a good bat.

Milton

Couldn't we have just played Leo Jimenez/Orelvis/Wagner and Ernie Clement in the infield, with Bo and Vlad, saved the $97 million owed to Giménez, and used that money to add a bat?

Honestly, it's hard to justify paying over $23 million in a year for a second baseman who's primarily a defensive specialist (basically Teo money in 2027), especially when the team needs two bats, a starter, and a closer.

It feels like they're running this franchise into the ground, and it's really disappointing to watch. The money's already running thin, and they haven't addressed any of the key needs on the roster.

... why would you want your favourites team best player be a tough sign because you hate the front office?

like what are we doing here.
