When you're close to being a winning team, you need to take some risks to put things over the top.
When you take over a team like Ottawa whose former GM pissed away 1st round picks in poor trades and via league penalties without and playoff berths to show for it... you don't take big risks in your first offseason.
I don't think there's any chance that the 7th overall pick is going to be included in a trade for a veteran player. If anything, and these are the rumors in Ottawa, Staios is willing to move down to acquire more picks, because our prospect pool is barren (which is wild considering how bad we've been).
I think if the Bruins were willing to take Chychrun and their own first pick (25OA), the deal would already be done.
If they're holding out for Ottawa's own pick (7OA), it's not going to happen.
