That means you pay Ullmark close to 5 million instead of around 1 million for Bussi. You lose Bussi. And then there is no guarantee that there is a team at the deadline who is on his approved trade list that is going to go for him, so better than 50/50 you keep him all season

It's not the worst thing ever because even being the B part of a platoon he'll probably average 1.6 points per start, helping propel the Bruins up the standings. But that 4 million dollar gap could bring in a pretty good player
I’m not concerned with losing Bussi. This team has pumped out Thomas, Rask, Ullmark, Swayman… Essesna is clearly elite at getting the most out of goaltenders.

I’d hold off unless it’s a hockey trade bringing in a good forward, or a top 12 pick. If not you’ll get more at the draft. If Ullmark is willing to waive now why wouldn’t he at the TDL, knowing it would only be for a few months (playoff run) until free agency. With injuries you may have more suitors.

He may be reluctant to move his family during the season and may not want to be apart from them. Couldn't really blame him for that. If you are going to trade him now is the time.

Everyone should be leery of giving a guy who is as injured as often as Chychrun is, a long term contract

Nothing happening yet. Just typical summer HF boards infighting. Like clockwork.

How was the parade?

Sorta like everyone should be leery of a guy who mentally checks out for just as many games as Chycrun is injured

If Ullmark is discussing extensions with teams that has to mean the framework of a deal is done right?

Maybe, maybe not. It means there's a team (or more) that either isn't on his list or perhaps he is saying something like "I will go to Ottawa if Ottawa pays me the big bucks with an extension because my numbers will probably go down next year with their D and that'll mean my value might go down too." So they let his agent talk to them. Does not mean anything is close, but one can hope.

I like Chychrun but we don't need him. Plus his next deal will be long and expensive. We need an experienced D for 3rd pair and insurance for Lohrei in the top 4 on short and relatively cheap money. If Lohrei takes the top 4 spot and runs with it, great. If he stumbles, we have insurance to drop him back to 3rd pair to gain experience. Someone like Brenden Dillon or equivalent.

Brenden Dillon.

Just by losing Ullmark cap hit, gives the Bruins another 5mil to play with, so imo hell if you get the 25th pick this year Id still do it. Obviously I'd want the higher pick or next years, but that extra 5 mil you'd have would be used to bld your team this off season and not sitting on the bench for more than half the games next year and your able to keep a young promising goalie in Bussi

The Senators top priority is to improve the club’s goaltending and Postmedia has reported Staios has re-engaged in serious discussions with Boston Bruins’ general manager Don Sweeney to see if they can find the right fit to bring veteran Linus Ullmark to Ottawa.

The indications are the asking price is high and league executives say the Bruins have been scouring the market for a centre. Boston would have interest in restricted free agent Shane Pinto but we’ve been told the Senators have indicated to teams they have zero interest in moving him

Speaking on the Leafs Nation podcast with Nick Alberga and former NHL goalie Carter Hutton Friday, Ullmark knows his days with the Bruins are likely numbered if the organization can get someone to pay the asking price.

“It’s hard to say (what might happen),” Ullmark told the podcast from his home in Sweden. “We’re coming back to that logical side where the team is going to do whatever they need to do to become the very best and as prepared for next season as possible.

“If you’re part of that chess piece where they can use you as a trade piece to become better, they’re going to do it. That’s the business side of it. There’s no feelings attached or anything like that, it’s just business related. You have to take it as a business decision and not a personal decision.
