Is Deni a natural LW as well? I forgot

Yep…

Both our top forward prospects before Lundell were left-wingers !

Edit: And both have played all three forward positions through their early career with mixed results.
I remember in World Junior tournament, he played right point. A heck of a shot!

-3 though so he's been on the ice for all of the five goals against thus far.
e: Dubnyk has fallen off a cliff.
Where I check for stats for some reason they don't show power plays. I think a lot of the goals he's getting assist on are PP.

I think I'm going to get ahl tv, because my cousin came back this weekend.
Fun fact, his roommate scored his first NHL goal for Philadelphia this weekend.

You're right, he's been on the ice for three goals against. All of his points came from PPs.

Thanks so much for your contributions.

If your Sharks come up lame before playoffs, you got a front row seat on this team's bandwagon.

I might take you up on that offer. The Sharks are kind of in a crap place right now and supposedly have one of the tougher schedules from here on out so I'm expecting things to come crashing down especially if they look at trading Hertl (not that I'm against them bottoming out because they're a mess and could maybe use a kick in the butt to motivate them to fix some of the roster issues beyond just having gotten out of Kane's deal)

Plus I like you guys for being a fun young team and we Betteman pet project 90s sunbelt expansion teams have to stick together so we can stick it to the traditionalist fans that like to sit in judgement of what markets "deserve" teams.

Also I want you guys to win it for Jumbo. He deserves it.

I guess for that price Vancouver couldn't turn it down. Edmonton is ridiculously loaded now.

I guess. It was one of a trio of moves they made today, shipping out a 19yo d-man for a 1st from Winnipeg and taking in another 19yo d-man for a pair of mid-round picks from Regina. a pair of 1sts is a good return even though the 2022 one is going to probably be low if the Oil Kings do well in the playoffs as they should and the other one is 3 years away.

I'm guessing maybe Lysell is out for longer than expected or Boston has indicated they don't want him to return this season? Because the team has struggled lately (4 wins, 9 regulation losses, 2 OT losses in their last 15 games played) but this is kind of their last gasp with this roster. Before next season they're aging out a top 6 forward, 2 top 4 d-men, and would've been likely to lose Sourdif, Lysell, and starting goalie Jesper Vikman (Vegas prospect) to the pro ranks. By next year the only NHL prospect likely left on the roster is Ottawa '21 2nd rounder Zach Ostapchuk and maybe the one guy with '22 draft eligibility who might get a look in the late rounds (Justin Lies, a good sized high-energy sparkplug type checking line forward). Kinda sad they didn't stick it out to see if the could make some noise with this roster one last time.

More sad that they traded Sourdif to an Eastern Conference team which means he won't get a homecoming game before he leaves for the pro ranks because the WHL has no interconference play this season to keep travel and potential covid spread to a minimum.

It sucks going through a junior rebuild. There's so much unknown.
I live smack-dab in between Sarnia and London, ON.
On one side is London, who never rebuidls. Contender after contender.
On the other side is Sarnia, perennial loser. They just can't seem to ever get any traction. Good players, but barely anything to show for it.

Complete opposite teams.

Smilianic with another goal last night in Quinnipiac's 9-0 whitewashing over ECAC division opponent Princeton.
Falls in line with my season long rant, that Quinnipiac should be in a tougher division.

The Athletic is unveiling their annual NHL team top prospect list. The Panthers fall 14 spots this year to 23, mainly because of the players who graduated and the players who they lost in their system.

Wheeler’s 2022 NHL prospect pool rankings: No. 23 Florida Panthers

The biggest difference from HFboard ranking is G Kirill Gerasimyuk.
He was ranked number 11 on the Athletic's list, and unranked on the HF list.

I like Smilanic a bit mote than him but good read: I agree Sourdif is top 3/4 now

One of my favorite prospects blowing up Princeton, my least favorite school!

Actually now that Lundell is a full timer, it’s either Smilanic, Sourdif or Puutio for my favorite. Probably Smilanic

I am just happy Uens in at 15. :D

He is a high reward pick.

He has flashes of Ek I see in him.
  • Big Shot
  • Maning top of the umbrella
  • Very solid in is own end
  • Big body, who has an active stick
  • Skating is more than adequate

In tiers:
Denisenko
Samoskevich, Sourdif, Benning, Hutsko
Nause, Noel, Smilanic, Ludvig, Schwindt, Gerasimyuk, Puutio, Gildon
Lukashevich, Uens

He is pretty high on Benning - I don't think we talk about the guy much, but he is putting up very good numbers in the NCAA (only two defencemen have more goals than him). He's really tiny but sometimes these guys do work out.

What sucks (but is expected with the graduation of Lundell, Tippett and Knight) is that we essentially have no high-end prospect. Complimentary guys yes, depth guys absolutely, but no true high-end talent. And without a first round pick, that is unlikely to change this year.

Unlikely to change this year, and also expected like you said…

A team doesn’t graduate 3 kids like Tippett, Lundell and Knight in one year, and then stays at the top of the food-chain with other high-end talents…

Those kids were our high-end talents ! hehe

Still think Samoskevich can surprise, and I’ve always been a big fan of Denisenko and believe he is really high-end in talent…

Thanks for sharing that list.
I wanted to last night, but was beyond tired. :boredom:

I'm not sold on Benning yet.

He is small, there's no denying that. It's very rare that small frame defenseman work out.

He is also really hot and cold. He goes on these stretches where he just gets a million points, but then you don't hear about him for a week or two. I'd like to see some more consistency in his game.

I'd like to see him put up monster, consistent season next year as a Junior in Denver.
