Thanks for sharing that list.
I wanted to last night, but was beyond tired. :boredom:

I'm not sold on Benning yet.

He is small, there's no denying that. It's very rare that small frame defenseman work out.

He is also really hot and cold. He goes on these stretches where he just gets a million points, but then you don't hear about him for a week or two. I'd like to see some more consistency in his game.

I'd like to see him put up monster, consistent season next year as a Junior in Denver.
He'll definitely get the opportunity next year - he's at least a year away from the AHL, maybe even two.
It's always a wait-and-see with guys this small, especially defencemen (I mean it's with all prospects, but tiny defencemen are especially tricky). Next year should tell us more about where he's at. It can't hurt that he's from a hockey family - he'll have plenty of people around to help him succeed. On the bright side, he hasn't played himself out of the conversation - he's doing what he's supposed to be doing this year.

As awesome as our 2020 draft class was, 2021 looks less so. Obviously it's still way too early, but outside of Samoskevich and Gerasimyuk, the kids are having meh or outright bad seasons. Nause is the only minus regular player on his team - not great, especially since his offence also took a dip. Lukashevich was out for ages and has been very meh since finally coming back. Kos is perfectly unremarkable and Haché has 3 points in 29 OHL games - that's very bad even for a defenceman. Fingers crossed for this year's group.

Our Prospect group has really been hampered by injuries this season

Benning even if he's small could still turn out to be an elite pp qb type who needs to be sheltered on the 3rd pair. But we have kinda been doing that the last few years anyway with different D. A lot of teams have guys like that. He could at least give us options. It's nice to see Gerasimyuk get some love. He's really had a good season in the mhl. I'm really high on him. Super quick and fluid.

The Athletic is unveiling their annual NHL team top prospect list. The Panthers fall 14 spots this year to 23, mainly because of the players who graduated and the players who they lost in their system.

Wheeler’s 2022 NHL prospect pool rankings: No. 23 Florida Panthers

The biggest difference from HFboard ranking is G Kirill Gerasimyuk.
He was ranked number 11 on the Athletic's list, and unranked on the HF list.
I'm not sure how the Athletic works as a pay site if people can read this article.
If you cannot, send me a PM. I have five free guest passes for 30 days that I can't get rid of. I'll gladly give one to whoever here asks.

Uens with a nice give n go Insurance goal, as Merrimack defeated the #9 ranked team in the country, Hockey East rival UMass Lowell. Merrimack is playing out of its minds right now, largely thanks to him.

Benning with 2 assits
Smilanicc, Krygier, Samoskevich all with 1 assist on a busy Friday NCAA slate of games.

Quinnipiac, Michigan, and Denver are all within the top five ranked teams in the NCAA hockey (1, 3, & 5)

There is no Denver University highlights, as I think the game was on local CBS station last night.

Another big win for Merrimack over UMass Lowell this weekend! Uens (22gp, 1g, 10a) with the ppa on the gwg. Slapper from the top of the circles that was deflect6ed in.
This guy is really taking advantage of an injured defensive prospects group this season.

Krygier with another assist this weekend (26 gp, 4g, 7a), with the extra attacker in Michigan State's Big Ten loss to Ohio State. No video available.

Yeah basically a Lost season for him, not ideal.

On the plus side, I don't have to become a Philadelphia Flyers fan next season.
:flyers

You need to be tell him to demand a trade to Florida. We’ll need him a couple of seasons ;)

we had like four players play: Noel, Schwindt, Bowlby, and Hutsko I think…damn

So, halfway through the AHL season, our AHL affiliate team is once again on the outside looking in. They could still very well make it (they're just 3 points out with one game in hand) but when was the last time our affiliate made the playoffs; the Portland Pirates in 2015/16?
I don't know if it's coaching, management or what but it'd be nice if the team finally did something about that.

It’s definitely coaching because kinnear is a clown but there could be other factors

I mean how many years in a row does he have to produce bad results before they fire him? And it's not like you can say "they lose a lot of games but look at all the great guys they developed!" When you look at our top forward picks: Borgstrom, Tippett, Heponiemi, Denisenko, Noel were/are all being developed by him, none of them seem to be hitting nowhere near their ceiling. Tippett will maybe (hopefully) get there but the rest have stagnated or regressed. Seriously, have we developed a single relevant guy in the AHL since Weegar? Maybe Tippett, but that's the first name since 2016, and he's not exactly setting the world on fire for a guy picked at #10 overall.
Like how does Kinnear still have a job?
