Honestly that's a very weird take. Taylor Hall didn't forget how to play defensively (he was never good defensively to begin with), he got old/injured and much slower. Once you took away his speed he lost all his offense.
I think the weird take is that Hall was only good offensively because he could skate fast. Really? Nothing else? I guess by that measure, Ben Meyers should’ve been a superstar for Colorado.

Again, he drove play at an elite level in his prime. I’m not trying to make him out to be Patrice Bergeron, but I’m not the only one to point out that at his best he was pretty good defensively.

Now if you want to say he lost a step and that affected his overall game, well yeah, then I agree with you. But if you’re just saying he scored points because he was fast, then you’re not making any sense.

This argument is getting pretty stupid anyway because you’re not even paying attention to the original point, which was that the poster I was responding to didn’t really remember Hall being a “greasy goals” guy, I simply pointed out that greasy goals were/are the only way Hall creates offense.

IMO, choosing Miller over Pettersson wouldn't be smart so I hope that's what the Canucks do.

For all the talk of Pettersson needing to be more engaged and quiet quitting, he wasn't the one who actually did quit on his team. That was big, tough, gritty, leader Miller.

If there was a trade to be made, EP40 doesn't have any trade protection until summer. JT has a full NMC.

Miller sounds like MacK. A guy who wants to win and perform at a top level and pisses off his teammates since he expects that from everyone.

EP40 is like Makar. A young superstar but a bit more reserved and doesn't always take over games like he can.

The difference is leadership in the rest of the room. Hughes seems like a quieter lead by example type. A better and more refined version of Sakic. But not as outspoken and handsome like Landeskog.

Call me crazy, but if I'm the Nucks, I'm keeping the 26 years old. It's rare that you have a #1 center and a #1 Dman that can grow together and give you at least 5 years of cup contention. Miller has what? Maybe 2 years before his regression starts?

Interesting stuff from the last draft...

Chicago offered 1st 2025 (!!) + 2nd 2025 to Columbus for the 4th OA 2024. The Hawks reportedly were hesitating between Levshunov and Demidov at #2, they came close to have them both.

Chicago is lucky Columbus didn't have the balls to go through with that trade. They tried to get better this offseason and are still clearly the worst team in the league.

I dont think they'd have much issue moving the 2027 2nd tbh given how they treat 2nds.

Also, this is one thing the Avs have IMO done really well lately is finding ways to add back some draft capital in the trades they make. I really like the idea of getting late picks back in trades, even if we move a higher pick in the deal to get help now... Getting a late pick back at least gives them more bullets in the chamber on draft day, or quite frankly sometimes those later picks are what it takes to get deals across the finish line.

For example that Parsnip deal. Yeah we moved a 3rd, but at least we got a 6th back. Or Blackwood. We moved a 2nd and 4th, but we got a 5th back. Made sure to grab a 4th in the Brannstrom deal. We got a 5th back in the Sean Walker deal, we traded a 6th for Kevin Mandolese, but got a 7th back.

If we end up keeping that Rangers pick and it ends up being ~35-40th overall, I bet we see them move down with it.

If they keep drafting guys like Prishchepov with those late picks it could work. Overagers, Euros, College guy, Goalies all that have more development mileage.

They are lucky only if their 2025 pick becomes better than Demidov.

They wanted Demidov to eventually play with Bedard.
