I think the weird take is that Hall was only good offensively because he could skate fast. Really? Nothing else? I guess by that measure, Ben Meyers should’ve been a superstar for Colorado.Honestly that's a very weird take. Taylor Hall didn't forget how to play defensively (he was never good defensively to begin with), he got old/injured and much slower. Once you took away his speed he lost all his offense.
Again, he drove play at an elite level in his prime. I’m not trying to make him out to be Patrice Bergeron, but I’m not the only one to point out that at his best he was pretty good defensively.
Now if you want to say he lost a step and that affected his overall game, well yeah, then I agree with you. But if you’re just saying he scored points because he was fast, then you’re not making any sense.
This argument is getting pretty stupid anyway because you’re not even paying attention to the original point, which was that the poster I was responding to didn’t really remember Hall being a “greasy goals” guy, I simply pointed out that greasy goals were/are the only way Hall creates offense.
