Another reason the NHL needs a no over and back OR shot clock rule.
Kind of get why Roy did it even if it seems stupid but to me teams shouldn't be able to just kill the clock out when there's almost a full minute left.

Down 2-1 on the PK in your own zone, I'd rather pull my goalie and go 5-on-5 instead of having to play a man down and likely a game of keep away.

It didn't work, so be it. 2-1 or 3-1, a loss is a loss.
I didn't notice the PK. Still a bold tactic. I'd trust my center to win the draw and have a winger leave the zone for the hail mary.

Habs come back from 2-0 down to lead 3-2 now against the Golden Knights in Vegas.

I thought this game was going to be a blowout after VGK scored 3 minutes into the game, but the Habs have simply out skated and out worked them.

They’re stepping up at the blue line in numbers and stopping Vegas from gaining the zone. Really weird that the Knights aren’t dumping it in and wearing down a small Montreal d-core. Not sure why they’re trying to carry it in all the time.

Since Laine made his season debut, the Habs are 9-0-4. His PP impact has obviously been substantial, but the whole vibe of that team changed when he entered the lineup.

I blame @dahrougem2 for calling Dach shit. He’s been on fire since and the Habs just beat the Panthers, Lightning and Knights in 3 consecutive games on the road.

All of a sudden that NYR 2nd we own looks sneaky valuable...

Edit: Think that pick is 39th right now but with Igor on IR and the way the rest of that clown show is playing, it could very well move higher pretty quickly.

2025 NYR 2nd
Ritchie
Gulyayev
Nabokov

These are pretty much the only non-NHL assets we have that are worth a rat’s ass lol

I don’t think we’d consider the 2027 1st or 2nd yet, although we have already traded the 2027 3rd.

4-1 Blues now in the 2nd period.

Mrazek has allowed 4 goals on 14 shots. Looks like shit.

The Blackhawks cannot make 2 or 3 passes without losing the puck. They are absolutely awful.

Bedard’s heat map would be identical to a Jack Hughes heat map; all perimeter play, refuses to go into high traffic areas / middle of the ice. Crazy.

Bedard has always struck me as the shooting version of Jack Hughes. I think they play eerily similar styles of hockey and I don't know that you can build around those types as centerpieces.

Who knows if it's a hot take or not but I think Celebrini ends up a better player and having a better career.

Shows how much we know before a player actually plays in the NHL, tons of examples. One being our 10th OA, who is arguably a top-3 winger in the game.

I been feeling a lot of Hall vibes from him. He’ll be a good player who scores a lot of goals, but will never carry a team. He’ll get traded in 2-3 years.

I'm not any good at hockey (probably) but I don't get floaters who stick to the outside. How do you not play at 100 miles an hour the whole time and throw yourself into everything? That's the point.

If it's worked his entire life, though, why change? It could be hard to rewire ~12-13 years worth of sniping on inferior competition from the perimeter.

Very different players, IMO.

Hall has always driven the net and gone to the greasy areas. Much more engaged style of play over Bedard/Hughes who circle the zone and make their living on the outside of the hash marks.

I’ll admit I haven’t thought of Hall in a long time. I just don’t remember him being much of a greasy net front type player.

The one thing with Hughes is he's unbelievable at setting his teammates up for slot chances, which somewhat makes up for him not getting to greasy areas.

Remains to be seen if Bedard can do the same.

I think we still have that 2026 1st round pick, no?
