I don't even think he's had a poor game, just that one really bad play and a few other mistakes. The US overall has looked sloppy though, hardly just him.
I mean I’m not sure how you can say this hasn’t been a poor game. His first period was horrendous. I missed the second period but that goal against was really bad and from the sound of it he didn’t do anything that great and this third has been fine. Not much good not much bad. Hasn’t made any big mistakes but also hasn’t done anything worth talking about.

Lmao was about to post and then he scored. That helps.

But still this has been a poor game at the very least. Multiple big mistakes. The goal does not erase that. We all know how talented he is and what he can do. There’s other areas of his game where he needs to be much better on a shift by shift basis.

Wicked shot from Luke. Just tuned in for the third and he’s looked pretty meh so far on all of his other shifts. If there’s ever one constant with him, just like Dougie Hamilton, it’s that shot of his just being lethal.

I don’t get the comparisons to Hamilton.
Luke is 10 times the skater. Kids has elite skatig ability. That along with his decent reach p will enable him to be at least an average defensively IMO. Not sure what happened to the praise of how good he could be . I still think he has the highest ceiling of almost anyone from his draft class

The praise is still there, Luke is touted as the best D-man prospect out of the NHL by many. He's at the very least a top 3-5 prospect overall.

It's just that many on here put a lot of attention on Luke's defensive game. Offensively, we all know what he can do and the elite skillset.

I’ve said before that I think he’ll become much better defensively overtime in the league. I think he’ll have to and those physically tools will help a lot.

But this is not how it works. Big and fast doesn’t equal good or even decent defensively at all. He’s really bad defensively right now mostly due to poor effort and decision making. If he doesn’t change the way he plays he’ll be terrible defensively in the NHL.
But I think he will because I don’t think he’ll have a choice. He’ll have to put in a lot more effort defensively if he wants to play in the NHL. That effort combined with improved and at times safer decision making should make him at least decent defensively overtime but there’s no guarentee.

Really hate what the Czechs did to their jerseys, the old ones were some of the best in international hockey

Fantilli tried to a pull a Michigan and got swatted down lol

It was the first period of the first game, you can’t judge much from that.

Some people had the US in trouble in some great sense in the main thread even though they took took the game over after the 1st, even if the score didn’t reflect that until the 3rd.

I don’t care that much about the goal, though it nice to help his team with those, because I know he can score those. It’s the same with rushes up the ice. I’d like to see him do more to with his teammates offensively.

Young offensive minded defensemen make mistakes at 19.

Didn’t judge anything from that period alone. Said it was a really bad period which it was. It also showed the kinds of the mistakes he’s continuously had issues with and needs to cut out. Not sure what it being the first period has to do with it.

Not a big deal, not the end of the world but also not suprising and is something worth noting at this point.

Svozil scores, 3-1 CZE. You'd like a save there if you're Canada I think.
