I don't know, I just straight up disagree. This team(any team) rides and dies with its best players. Last year in that game there were a few balls that dropped in that shit show of a game 2 that our outfield this year just casually glide under. That is honestly just a fact. There was no scenario where we were going into this season with all three of Moreno,Kirk, and Jansen on the roster either. End of the day, multiple guys that we needed to carry the load offensively for this team....and should have been able to do so just have not. That isn't on any trade or free agent signing that is just core players having really bad years.
The Jays also play in the AL East, which has been known for years it's an offensive division, you need to have power, it's just what it is. I feel like the approach was to try a different approach I just don't agree with. As a Fan and I believe many feel similar, we for years enjoy seeing the HR ball it's exciting, Joey bats, EE, Donaldson, but that's what fans enjoy going to see, and they kind of had that with Semien, Vladdy, Teo, Gurriel, and we got 1 left, I just don't agree with it.

Have the Jays scored a run off a starting pitcher this month? I’m sure they have but it can’t be very many.

Don’t know why Semien is constantly brought up. He was a mercenary that got paid 175m. Only the Rangers were gonna commit that money and term to him.

Gurriel was never part of that core. 23 HR's is his career high. He isn't a needle mover. That is my entire point. I just don't think they made some kind of decision to have a team that doesn't hit for power....I think they believed in Vladdy,Bo,Springer,Kirk and Chapman to carry the load and they just flat out haven't done it. They made a gamble on the core of the team and they haven't played good enough. If Vladdy, Kirk and Springer had the kind of season they are fully capable of having we aren't even talking about Gurriel anymore and are casually cruising into a playoff matchup right now.

Well he wasn't staying here anyways if he wasn't play SS, but losing that kind of offense without replacing it hurts.

He was hitting timely HR being clutch what this team desperately lacks now. And you could just see how his numbers were improving every year, he had a breakout year, but you could tell it was no fluke, the injury kind of hurt, but the potential was there and you could see it.

Yeah but I mean....maybe he wouldn't have this year? It is an unquantifiable thing. He is a fairly replaceable player at the end of the day. 108 wrc+ this year....that isn't making up for Vlad being bad this year I am sorry...it just isn't.

No Tapia is a fairly replaceable player more imo.

They pretty much did with Kirk/Jano, unless you’re just talking about dingers which seems flawed because only two guys, and not even Semien himself, replicated his power numbers last year. And then you have this year where there’s maybe 5 or 6 guys that will match that HR output (and again, Semien will not come close).

Mazden Leslie play ? How did he look ?

Huge shock to me he wasn't drafted, but then saw comments he's beyond brutal defensively and that's why.

Seems like a free prospect for the Leafs to sign, who can produce and even if he sucks defensively his offensive stats could make him a valuable target for a team to acquire in exchange for a vet that helps the Leafs next year, or the year after.

Not talking just dingers, but big part of my argument that's for sure, but power and clutch. He definitely struggled last year, but I do believe he started turning it around say the last couple months of the season, and looks to have continued that into this year. I was thinking the same for Varsho the other day thinking about Semien maybe going to a new team struggling to meet previous stats, but Semien did turn it around later in his first year, where Varsho hasn't shown any of that, which is alarming and not good to see.
