Fingers crossed that this is all a game.

That MTL wants Michkov but are faking it so they « create » a bidding wars for their pick, just to see what kind of value they’d get. Without real intentions of moving the pick.

But yesterday’s interview with Hugues makes me believe they will trade the pick. And it sounded like it could even be for a player and not other picks. Trading down would be pissing me off. Imagine you trade down and the player you pick sucks and not the 5th ov. Thats enough to end your job.

Would anyone here trade pick 5 in a deal for Nylander?
No he is a ufa in a year and will probably want to test the open market unless the Habs give him $10 million per year. Plus I'm not sure the Leafs would do it as they would probably want a NHL player back as they are in win now mode.

The ONLY way I'm fine with taking Reinbacher tonight is if they trade down and potentially acquire a young forward in doing so.

I'd be FINE with Leonard at 5. I'm part of the Michkov Machine obviously but I do (deep down) feel like they're not going to take him, just with all of the speculation and what people are saying. I know we like to pretend that nobody knows anything, but the smoke about them taking Slaf over Wright last year got very, very thick in the day/hours leading up to the draft.

If I had to bet money, my guess is that they do trade down with Philly to get 7. I would only do it for an overpay, but then they'd end up with either Leonard or Reinbacher, something I think they'd be very okay with internally. Just depends on what else Philly would give us to trade up.

Hypothetical: let's say Bedard, Fantilli, Carlsson, and Smith are gone with the 4 first picks, and they're not planning to take Michkov, so players they target are Leonard, Reinbacher, Benson, and Dvorsky. By trading back and acquiring another asset (whether another 1st round pick or a young roster player), you're still guaranteed to take one of the players you're interested in.

However, if you clearly identified a specific player and if he's there at 5th, then you stand pat and pick the guy. I think you only move back if you have 2, 3 or maybe 4 players you really like and you can afford to wait a few more spots to get one of them.

In our “window”? We need a tender and a stud defenseman. The rest may fall into place. Just my .02

7 and 22...fine with me. That's the ONLY deal I'd made. 8 and 40...forget it with the Caps.
Oh 100% agreed.

Caps would have to add to that package or replace the 40th with an NHL ready prospect with a high ceiling and i'm not super familiar with their prospect group other than Lapierre, McMichael and Alexeyeev.

There’s something metaphysical if the Flyers are the ones that get Michkov while we

Leaf fans will murder us with one liners. 20 years from now, our kids and grandkids will look at HockeyDB and just scratch their heads. It will give Flyers fans cosmic retribution after the Caufield debacle. I’m getting my popcorn. Lol

Oh yeah, we'll be the butt of the joke for his entire career.

Then the Jets fans chime in with "its okay Habs fans you just have to wait a year and then you'll just get him for free right? hahahahahaha looool"

Question, two scenarios here:

Anaheim calls and offers Trevor Zegras straight up for 5th overall. Caufield’s best bud.

Arizona calls and offers Logan Cooley straight up for 5th overall.

Are you taking one?

lol, he wasn't, but the excitement on these boards were through the roof until he fizzled away, Ovechkin lite. I'm just laughing at some of the moments on this board.

It's like when I thought Skost was going to become a PPG player.

Well after his rookie year I thought SK74 was gonna be a star. I bought and still have his jersey. Then in 2012 I thought Galchenyuk was gonna be a star, and bought his jersey and changed my username. This year I want Michkov, so clearly I know s*** about f*** and I'll leave it to the pros.

If Smith is gone and they're 100% not taking Michkov then I'd do it. I'd rather have Cooley/Zegras over Leonard/Reinbacher.

I remember this board when we drafted Collberg. You’d think we drafted Forsberg 2.0.
Dude every year we think we drafted the next super secret elite player. I have been hearing it for decades.

Jason Ward! Ron Hainsey! Joseph Balej! Perezhogin! Kostitsyn! Duncan Milroy! Higgins! Constantine Korneeev! Urquart! Corey Locke! Chipchura! Ben Maxwell! Valentenko! CHRISTOPHER HEINO-LINDBERG! Max Carle! Nicholas Torp! Avtsin! Josiah Didier!
