Well after his rookie year I thought SK74 was gonna be a star. I bought and still have his jersey. Then in 2012 I thought Galchenyuk was gonna be a star, and bought his jersey and changed my username. This year I want Michkov, so clearly I know s*** about f*** and I'll leave it to the pros.
Yeah, I do honestly think this is how it's going to play out in the end. The 4 you mentioned will be gone, we're going to play a game of chicken with Briere and convince him we're taking Michkov unless they trade.Hypothetical: let's say Bedard, Fantilli, Carlsson, and Smith are gone with the 4 first picks, and they're not planning to take Michkov, so players they target are Leonard, Reinbacher, Benson, and Dvorsky. By trading back and acquiring another asset (whether another 1st round pick or a young roster player), you're still guaranteed to take one of the players you're interested in.
However, if you clearly identified a specific player and if he's there at 5th, then you stand pat and pick the guy. I think you only move back if you have 2, 3 or maybe 4 players you really like and you can afford to wait a few more spots to get one of them.
Dude every year we think we drafted the next super secret elite player. I have been hearing it for decades.
Jason Ward! Ron Hainsey! Joseph Balej! Perezhogin! Kostitsyn! Duncan Milroy! Higgins! Constantine Korneeev! Urquart! Corey Locke! Chipchura! Ben Maxwell! Valentenko! CHRISTOPHER HEINO-LINDBERG! Max Carle! Nicholas Torp! Avtsin! Josiah Didier!

If ________ (president, GM1, GM2 or owner) overrules their scouts and picks a player who models his game on Sam Bennett, what nerve and entitlement we need to have to be anything but grateful.I understand Michkov is a special talent and has been touted as going 2nd OA for a long while before everything started going on in Russia + his contract extension. However, if this is indeed as deep a draft as everyone's been saying for over a year now and has a lot of elite talents at the top of it, then people shouldn't be disappointed in Habs taking someone else.
We went from having high end talent at the top of the draft to suddenly there is a big drop off after a few guys and if the pick someone else, it'll be a failure.
Yes...depending who is still there. I'll do it at our turn. Let's pretend everybody is taken at their normal position...Would you do: 7 and 22. Then move back a spot and get 8 and 40. So you end up with 8, 22 & 40?
I can’t stand Elliotte’s “I can’t help but wonder …” musings. Is he ever right?A lot of hot air.
No shit Sherlock.
Doubtful, I'm a happy drunk, not an angry drunk! His posts might start making more sense with a little bit of liquor in your system.
What's your poison of the day?I got a pretty good head start on ya!
How did you get a live feed of me in my living room right now?
ArizonaWhy would Philly trade up with us if they don't think we're going to take Michkov and run?
Wouldn't that be stupid to do that!Imagining this boards reaction if we keep pick 5 and selected Dvorsky.

No one believes that the Canadian has finished moving. There are plenty of teams in the league that believe Montreal is willing to trade their #5 pick to drop. -

SO it better be a prospect back and wings #1 pick... sure hope so..

We were lucky the Rangers insisted on him in the Kovalev trade. The Habs offered Plekanec initially.Balej was such a steal in the third round!! Did you not see his numbers in Portland?
