I know but I know this team, they’re crappy scouting staff and Molson. I don’t trust them at the draft one but. They drafted Hutson which I was surprised but I think most of us were clamouring for Kulich and they went Mesar. Still early but I don’t trust them
You don't trust them because they don't pick who you want?

Or you don't trust them because they've shown you their bad at drafting?

No

No it wouldnt.

In any other draft Michkov is a 1st overall. Much more line 6 + 9 for 1. Which dont make it
I want MIchkov too. If we are trading that 5th though.....this would be the kind of return I'd want. I doubt Detroit would even entertain it.

I bet you Michkov goes 2-4 and we won't have the option. It's going to be Smith.

Right now, my guess or probability is 80% Smith and 20% Michkov.
The reality is that the rumors are flying Columbus takes Smith and SJ would then run to the podium and takes Carlsson. Only chance it happens is if columbus is throwing smoke and still takes carlsson

It can also mean they're as interested in other targets as they are Michkov and if another team is willing to give them more assets, all while they can still select one of their targets, it's something they consider.
Fun part is that it was not a problem giving low 1st round and 2nd roudner 31 and 37 'cause you know picks rarely gives great players. Yet, if Hughes trade 5 for 7 and 40...SUDDENLY 40 will have huge value?

Avstin was definitely a Michkov level prospect….

lol, he wasn't, but the excitement on these boards were through the roof until he fizzled away, Ovechkin lite. I'm just laughing at some of the moments on this board.

It's like when I thought Skost was going to become a PPG player.

General question - is the dropoff in talent and intangibles (like grit ) that significant from Michkov to Leonard or Smith?

I mean if it’s not that wide a gap - why take that gamble? Three years is a very long time to wait

I understand Michkov is a special talent and has been touted as going 2nd OA for a long while before everything started going on in Russia + his contract extension. However, if this is indeed as deep a draft as everyone's been saying for over a year now and has a lot of elite talents at the top of it, then people shouldn't be disappointed in Habs taking someone else.

We went from having high end talent at the top of the draft to suddenly there is a big drop off after a few guys and if the pick someone else, it'll be a failure.

Losing my mind over the fact we’ll probably pass on just taking whoever falls to us from the big 5.

It should be so easy.
The top 5 picks never end up having the 5 best careers. I'm putting my faith in the talent evaluators who have been doing their homework around the clock.

There is always a late pick that we fall in love with.

I can’t imagine his trade value being all that high. He’s the very definition of an average vanilla player.
We will get a 2nd round pick back. Yay.
It’s like when you buy a crappy crypto for $100 and next thing you know it’s worth $10.
Thanks Bergy.
