There's a very real chance those few spots will be the difference between a franchise player and an alright top 6 player.

Imo it wasn’t that bad, the Habs organization did a good job of prepping the media who then prepped the fans.

Doesn’t seem to be the case this time.

It helps that Wright’s star had genuinely dimmed so there was no clear BPA.

despite what others may say...none of us here are experts!

Yup. Even the top scouts don't have a 75%+ accuracy rate. I keep saying it, we are trying to evaluate age 14/15 to 17/18 years and project that forward to who they will be at age 20/21+. Tough business.

What do the Caps have that would make us even begin to consider trading down with them? 40th pick isn’t even close to enough. There’s no fit with McMichael or Lapierre, especially now with the Newhook acquisition. I don’t see how this could work unless the Caps trade for another pick in the top 15 or give up picks in next year’s draft.

Edvinsson is legit. 2021 6th overall and deserves that spot still two years later.

If Michkov isn’t available, doesn’t that mean SJ took him and we got Smith? Seems like the best case scenario. It’s going to really suck if Michkov isn’t an option but hopefully we get what we deserve in a trade if we move back.

We are due for someone to slip to us. Lets say Michkov is taken 2-4 range and whoever is left from Fantilli/Carlsson/Smith falls to us... Possible one of those 3 is the second best player in this draft.

Makar and Pettersson went 4/5 in 2017. Patrick and Heiskanen went 2/3.
