If nothing else, the Jacobs are good businessmen.

You don’t become good at business by intentionally throwing away money.

Brown was signed to a 2 year, 1 way contract, which means he makes NHL money in the AHL.

Ergo, they would not have given him that deal if they expected him to be in the minors. They would have given him the Megan deal.

You asked why people keep talking about his contract, that’s why. That’s the significance. It’s not that people care about Jacobs losing money. It was simply that the contract indicated this was not the plan for Brown (or Boqvist).

They also probably weren't expecting Poitras to force his way into the line-up. It's easy for people to complain about a move with hindsight. The people complaining about Brown have done so since he was signed. I think you're giving folks too much credit for why they're complaining

And then Beecher looked more ready than anyone expected.

Then the next question is , How the hell did you see that in Brown ? He's never shown that he deserved that contract. Yes, I know it Jacobs money , blah, blah ,blah but if I'm Jacobs I'm knocking on Donny's door , Hey Don WTF?

I’ll say too: Jesper Boqvist is a much better than how he looked in the preseason. He played like a guy who never expected a demotion was possible. Disappointing.

I’m very impressed that it seems as though the Bruins are really attempting to play the guys who are proving to be the most competitive. They put a lot more on waivers than I think they were planning on and seem at peace with the one-way deals in Providence. All excellent.

Yeah, I think Poitras forced the Boqvist move and Beecher forced the Brown move.

I'm trying not to read too far into anything they said, but it sure does feel like they're working on a trade to make room for Lohrei to me.
If so , I gotta think it's Grizz , can't see anyone being interested in Forbort unless we're attaching assets to him, which I would not be on board with.

Forbort's full salary probably needs assets attached to it, but I could see a team biting on Forbort at 50% retained. Which is all we really need.

Also I think we really need to pump the breaks on the "trade Gryz" stuff. Like I get it, some people have their issues with him cause of his limitations as an undersized defenseman and cause of his playoff numbers. I get that. But regardless of all of it, the Gryz-McAvoy pairing has legitimately been a top 3-5 defensive pairing in the entire league over the past 3 regular seasons. Yes the numbers drop off in the playoffs, but this team is not a sure enough thing to make the playoffs anymore to simply ignore the regular season. What do you do if you trade Gryz, play Lohrei in the top 4, and then Lohrei struggles? Forbort can't play top 4, do you put Zboril there?

Guessing here of course what Sweeney does trade wise if he does ..Has to be Grizz in my opinion because Lohrei can cover his skillset but Derek will kill penalties & block alot of shots etc.

I'm of the opposite mind, Lohrei looked ready for the NHL to me, but not for top 4 duty. We already have a legitimately elite top 4 defense with Gryz-McAvoy, Lindholm-Carlo. Let those 4 take the tough minutes while Lohrei gets eased in on the third pair next to a great vet presence in Shattenkirk. As for the PK, they'll figure it out. Lohrei is 6'5" and has that long reach, I'm sure he'll do fine. And Lindholm has had years for Anaheim where he averaged over 3min of PK a game, so he can be that workhorse if you need him to be.

That's fine and you could very well be correct ( Whatever happens, happens) but my thinkining is who is doing all the dirty work on PK outside Carlo ?( saw u mention Lindholm) The PK can win you games now bigtime with amount of penalties called every game.Should be interesting to see how this plays out and it's a good thing having kids make it tough.

He was a guy who was good at faceoffs and physical. The faceoffs and PK was the thing they were looking for. Did they need to add the second year? It certainly sealed the deal.

If we are complaining about Sweeney having cheap vets in place that don’t make so much the kids can’t take their jobs we are doing it very very wrong.
