In August I said Matier was my long shot to make the team on defense. His numbers are amazing right now (20 pts in 16 games for a 6'5" defenseman that can play with grit is pretty solid).

It's team canada so we cant guarantee spots but he's for sure in my top 6 right now.
He's right handed and that is big. Close calls, and there will be close calls after the first three or four defencemen, should factor in trying to get some kind of right/left balance.

I'd be ok with something like this. Not sure on goaltenders yet, but I would like to make sure that there is some good defensive cover on the ice most of the time. Wright is the only NHLer I think gets released.

Othmann Stankoven Bedard

Kidney Wright Roy

Bolduc Fantilli Dean

Ostapchuk Beck Gaucher

Greene, Savoie

Del Mastro Zellweger

Korchinski Matier

Allan Ceulemans

Lambos, Kyrou

Goaltenders
Just out of curiosity, how come you did not include Othmann??

I am watching more videos. There are some really good 18 years old. Who would you cut if TC can only invite 20 forwards:

Fantilli Stankoven Bedard
Othmann Wright Roy
Bolduc Robertson Savoie
Ostapchuk Dach Gaucher ----> potential other potential checking forwards ( Schaefer Dean Greene)
Del Bel Belluz Kidney Firkus
Geekie Beck Ziemmer (top 18yr old players)

Allan Zellweger
Del Mastro Clarke
Mateychuk Matier
Lambos Korchinski
Pickering Ceulemans
Samson Kyrou

Othmann is on his first line?

He's the top line LW.

Your 2nd line way too soft and your top line way too small.

Mailloux has been playing some very strong hockey lately, I know TC will try to avoid him for obvious reasons, but in term of hockey alone, this kid deserves to be in the conversation, big mobile defensemen with such talent level dont grow on trees, he has been huge for London lately.

Yeah I mean he would be a bubble player based off his play for sure. Not a chance he is even the conversation for the team in general though.

Clarke has been sent down to the AHL for a 2 week conditioning stint. Would take him reasonably close to the start of Canada's camp. I hadn't considered him a possibility but one of the shows on NHL radio mentioned it today.

Agreed - I was under the impression that he has played well and would stay all season.

Would be a massive for the team if TC were able to get him. Without a doubt he’d be the guy that plays a Chabot like role this year.

Omg this is huge. Imagine if they loan Sillinger along with Wright, I doubt it but it's he's doing terrible so far in Columbus.

One can dream :)

Can someone explain to me what kind of player Owen Beck is? Because I don’t know enough about him but been hearing his name a lot! Looks like we have two lines that are well solidified, it’s the 3rd and 4th lines that can be played around a lot. I’m actually excited to see what they come up with. That D-Core realllly excites me too, I’m happy Scott Wheeler added Jordan Dumais to the extras list! Notable that Conor Geekie, Zachary L’Heureux, and Zach Dean are not there, Conor definitely could be a real good player, but he might be a Seth Jarvis and miss the team and then go to the NHL next season. I mean… Hendrix Lapierre never made it either so we will see… And Zachary is still week-to-week until he returns from an upper-body injury that has been keeping him out this season. It’s hard to leave Zach Dean out but I do like Jordan Dumais more.

Man I can’t wait for the tournament, did some math projections and Halifax has the chance of being the 4-5th highest attended World Juniors in IIHF History. It’ll be right around Buffalo 2011 at 329,000 range.

Beck is a very responsible 200ft center, best in the OHL in the faceoffs circle last season. Good skater, high hockey IQ and i think he already has an NHL shot.

I believe "lock" is the way that Montreal fans tend to describe him.
