I'd hope so, and it's looking that way. He should get lots of time in Coachella.
You know , in about 5-7 years mcdavid , mcinnin , Mathews , eichel will be in their prime and probably downhill after that. I really thought that wright would be “the” guy to replace them

I still believe in him but not like a super star

Hope bedard , Fantilli can replace them

Team Canada World Junior Selection Training Camp is December 9-12 in Moncton, New Brunswick.

—————

Also Shane Wrights is on a 2 week conditioning loan with the Coachella Valley Firebirds, when that ends there is one more NHL game against the Montreal Canadiens in Seattle unsure if he’ll play that game or not but one can hope he does. And then he would head off to Moncton for selection camp and then to Halifax for the World Juniors. And ironically when the tournament finishes up, Seattle is going to be IN Montreal for a game against the Habs, might want to mark that date down it could be interesting, he could go back to Kingston but it appears he’ll likely go back up to the Kraken afterwards.

Either way we should see Shane Wright with team Canada unless something bad happens.

Othmann - Stankoven - Bedard

Roy - Wright - Dumais

Dean - Gaucher - Kidney

Bolduc - Beck - L’Heureux

Fantilli, Savoie

Zellweger - Clarke

Korchinski - Mateychuk

Lambos - Ceulemans

Del Mastro, Matier

That’s my crack at the lineup. A couple notes;

-Fantilli starts off as the 13th forward. Draft eligible players rarely ever play a key role. He will have to earn it

-Wright gets sent to play due to obvious reasons

-Clarke gets sent to play because LA is pretty deep on defence and he has only played in 9 games this year averaging only 13 minutes a game. He is on a conditioning stint in the AHL at the moment

-Dumais makes the team and the tournament is in Halifax and he plays for the Moosehead

-top line is all offensive

-fourth line will be terrible to play against

-Savoie as the 14th forward and will be there if their is an injury to a top offensive player

-Matier makes it as the #8 defenceman. He plays for the 67’s and the head coach for Canada coaches the 67’s

Ostapchuk is guaranteed a spot

While draft eligible guys haven't had huge roles in the past it has been happening more lately with guys like Lafreniere, Byfield, Mercer, etc. Fantilli definitely has the size and talent to be a contributor for us, whether that happens or not we will find out. I like the defense, but not sure if Clarke gets sent to the team. My lineup isn't that different from yours though:

Roy-Stankoven-Bedard
Othmann-Wright-Dumais (Othmann and Wright have long chemistry history)
Bolduc-Fantilli-Dean/Savoie (not sure on Savoie's relations with Hockey Canada)
Oztapchuk-Gaucher-Stillman (pest line)
Kidney, Savoie/Dean

Zellwegger-Lambos
Korchinski-Allan (makes a ton of sense since they're both on Seattle now)
Mateychuk-Matier
Ceulemans (need another RD)

Gaudreau/Brennan/Milic

Is gaudreau a lock? 3.41 gaa and .873 doesn’t seem great

And when are the invites going out

Fantilli is also a post-Sept 15 birthday (Oct 12) so he's has to wait that extra year, but he's an 18 year old and more likely to be treated like that vs a traditional draft eligible 17yo player.

Shane wright is being sent to AHL for 2 weeks. Confirmed

What a terrible mismanagement by the kraken. Shane has lost a lot of playing. He should have been sent to ohl to play and play and play.

Anyways this probably means he will be on team Canada 🇨🇦
2 weeks, or 5 games - whichever comes first.

This, then him being loaned out for the WJC brings him upto the OHL trade deadline - in which he‘ll likely be moved.

I wouldn’t guarentee anything - but he would definitely be a favourite given his history with HC.

- Clarke won’t be there
- Not sure about Ceulemans
- Matier has done enough on the ice to earn a legit chance and 67’s Cameron is not the coach of Team Canada
- there’s always a big surprise following the camp (2nd week Dec) and my guess it will be a forward out of nowhere

James Boyd is the GM of the 67's, and the GM of the World Junior team, where he returns after assembling the team last year

Assuming that's what he meant

What makes you so sure about Clarke? He hasn't been played very much with the Kings. At the very least seems like an outside chance.

I actually really like those forward pairings, I’m not sure if Dumais is 2nd line caliber but I’m intrigued to find out, I think he’s an excellent fit with Wright and Roy’s game. The third line I could see have some excellent chemistry, and the fourth line would shut the door on anyone. Both Matthew Savoie and Adam Fantilli being an extra are interesting takes though… We’ll see about that. I’m not too sure on the status of L’Heureux until he plays his first games this weekend for Halifax but I’d like to see him earn a spot.

I wouldn't be surprised to see something very similar to that, though probably a bit more conservative on defence.

Regarding Dumais, he deserves a camp invite but it will be very interesting to see how he looks against the other top players. I find that the small scoring machines usually, but not always, end up being not that effective at the WJC for Canada. Not that they are given a long leash. In Dumais' case at least he is only 18 so he would have a chance for 2024 as well.

Sorry did not mean to quote you. They just said on HNIC that Guenther will be going. That is fantastic if true.
A line of Sillinger McTavish Guenther would be a welcomed site at this year's WJHC. but more of a chance we see all 3 make their senior mens debut in May. Something to look forward to in the spring.

That seems strange. He's been getting a pretty steady 12 minutes per game and has put up some points.

McTavish has played with men at the last olympic tournament, which probably counts, and Sillinger was on the IIHF world championship team last year. They're all welcome in 2023 though, hopefully with a few top level players to show the way.

Right. I forgot about that. my bad! but in my defense, an Olympic tournament minus NHL participation doesn't really register all that much on my hockey radar, if at all. Didn't watch Olympic hockey before '98 and never saw anything of the 2018 or 2022 tournaments. not even youtube highlights.

No excuse, however, in forgetting Sillinger's participation at last spring's WHC. I generally follow the tournament for the young 18–22-year-old contingent. and of course, the GMGs.

I know this isn’t the right thread but I’m not sure where to ask. Are single game tix on sale yet? If so, where. We’re heading up for a few USA games and are trying to find tix. Any help is appreciated.
