Not only would Hockey Canada not want the scrutiny that came with Mailloux, but I can't imagine that he would want to open that can of worms again. Let the guy have a normal year, he seems like he would be a fringe candidate for the team anyway. I do agree though that how he plays makes no difference as far as this team - he would never get picked.

Based on the players which are being talked about I find that this team will be quick with high iq players. Not a punishing physical team. I’ve noticed that within the last 5-7 years the players have gotten smaller and quicker. I don’t see the Tom Wilson type players anymore in these Canadian teams. Is this fair assessment?

Those players aren't being produced in large numbers anymore. Even many of the big Canadian players aren't physical in recent times.

I think since the chl clamped down on fighting and boarding and hits to the head , the smaller faster players were able to flourish. Same thing in nhl. I don’t see those mean players anymore in the nhl. I used to see 2-3 mean players on a team in the past but now I can’t even count 1 per team. The 70’s and 80’s were mean !! No such anymore

I actually enjoy todays fast hockey. But I do miss a thundering hit. Especially at the juniors. I remember the big crashing hits. No more.

All you have to do it look at Tyler Boucher - who is probably the closest prospect to Wilson, since Wilson.

He has been suspended for almost a third of the season so far - once for a slew foot, warented mind you and another for being an instigato after stepping up for a teammate that just got hit with a dirty headshot.

At the junior levels these type of players are dying out because of the strict CHL rules. I hate to say it but they‘re almost as rare as a Bedard Type player.

LOL. and yet when pretty boy Tom Wilson was a junior in 2013, he wasn't much in consideration for the U20 team. He was a fringe player at best and not much of a prospect as far as the U20 team is concerned. And I'm not convinced that he makes 2014 team either. The Caps spared us of that decision. But full disclosure - I've never been a fan of Tom Wilson and would never put him on a Team Canada roster.

I'm starting to wonder if Marek either has bad intel or jumped the gun on Guenther. Another two assists (and 15 minutes TOI) last night puts him on a nearly 50 point pace. I can't recall a player with that type of production and ice time being loaned before.

Yeah...it would be odd. I certainly hope he is right lol I can see the logic behind Clarke being released for the tournament more so.

Yeah it seemed odd right away since he is playing and producing. We'll see before too long.

Sounds good, enjoy. Might have a few Atlantic players as well if Kidney and Dean are there. Perhaps another Newfoundlander with a chance too in Greene? Get some cabbage rolls in, rolled steak, turkey with stuffing, turnips, Scotch eggs, meat pie with rabbit, chicken bones for a snack. A good seafood chowder if you're lucky, Festive Special at Swiss if you're lazy. Can also get in the mood early by giving a donation to Christmas Daddies.

I'll add this for anyone who follows NCAA hockey. How does Ryan Greene look? He was drafted as a two way forward who is good defensively, but he is currently at a point per game for BU as the third leading scorer on the team. Sounds to me like a guy who deserves a camp invitation as a viable depth option but I'm curious what any NCAA watcher has to say.

As someone from here if you're in Moncton go to St. Hubert instead of Swiss Chalet much better chicken lol

Brennen isn’t even the best canadian drafted goalie on Pringe George yet Wheeler expects him to lead Canada to gold?

I don’t follow this tournament as much as I used to. I used to know the players inside out almost but now my interest has diminished over the last 5 years. And made worse by pandemic

What type of team are we building ?

Fast team ?

A good hockey iq team ?

Good skating team ?

Physically dominating team ? I don’t think this is the case with any team Canada anymore

Looks like they are building a fast skating team with good hockey iq
