Do you guys think Guenther and Johnston might play or you think they'll play in the NHL?
Unfortunately it’s very rare for NHL players to be loaned to the World Juniors, Barrett Hayton did so who knows?

Dylan Guenther really looks like he’s solidified his spot on the Arizona Coyotes Roster though.

If the Dallas Stars decides to loan Wyatt Johnston to the AHL for a 2 week stint before World Juniors training camp opens up that could bring a big chance we see him. But right now I’m doubting it and he stays in the NHL as a full-timer.

Canadas third line could use a little more depth if they want to compete against the States and Finland so Johnston and Guenther would be a massive help. Anything could happen.

I wish there was a platform that took bets and sealed that and I only bet when I'm a 100% sure. Beck is in unless he's injured
No, he is not.

Does he have a good chance on the roster? Yes, of course.

But it is a 19-year-old tournament with a ton of returning players.

No he isn't. Seth Jarvis was cut from Team Canada as an 18 year old like 2 years ago. He is a great prospect, but people trying to act like he is a lock is just setting yourself up for disapointment and/or anger if he does get cut...which he absolutely could be cut.

Yes he is. A lock. If anyone is a lock on this team it’s him

People here don’t want to admit that he is a lock. But he is going to make some heads explode here when he makes the team as a lock. He might even be better then wright (I know I’m stretching it )

You were the same person that was convinced Canada wouldn't medal after a 5-2 win over Latvia - Canada ended up winning GOLD.

Don't think you're the most level-headed individual.

No one is saying he won't make the team, many in here in fact have him on their teams, including me. But we're also irrational enough to realize that he is in a tier with multiple other good players that could be better in a 2-week training camp.

With Beck the only question is whether Canada even makes him play in the camp games and risks injury to its star player.

That’s right I was and I admit I was wrong. I can’t be right 100% of the time. Just like playing stocks. I’m not right 100% I just need to be right 60% of the time

I didn’t like the coach of this past summer

By the way , we will see about beck and I’ll be back to rub it in your face ;)

You can rub it in my face all you want - I still have Beck on my roster prediction for the WJC. The only way you can be “right”, is if Bobby Mac comes out and says it.

It would be fun to go with the wonder kids on the first line (Fantilli-Wright-Bedard) and perhaps try your luck at an all French line Roy-Bolduc-Dumais as a 2nd line? Then you'd be left with Stankoven/Othamnn for your other unit, perhaps with Savoie or Geekie. Looks pretty good

An all-Habs line would be cool too (Kidney-Beck-Roy) but to be honest I don't think Kidney makes it.

Stankoven needs to be in the top 6, but going nuclear with that first line would be fun to see

giving top billing to Fantili and Wright (a couple of 04s) wouldn't exactly meet my definition of the term "going nuclear". Other than Bedard, of course, but if we were to go nuclear it would look something along the lines of:

McTavish Stankoven Guenther.

I'm not expecting much from Fantili at this tournament. But hopefully he surprises me.

Now as we all know Beck is the lock of locks, but why would Kidney not make it at this point? Returning player pouring in points and a hometown guy too.

Expectations for Fantilli and Wright seem a bit excessive. Stankoven is proven at this level, there is no way they should slot above him at the moment. If they are both there and provide effective secondary offensive scoring options then that is satisfactory.

Here’s my current addition of my projected lineups for Team Canada for the World Juniors

Fantilli | Stankoven | Bedard
Othmann | Wright | Roy
Kidney | Dean | Savoie
Bolduc | Beck/Gaucher | Dumais
*Schaefer,

Korchinski | Zellweger
Lambos | Clarke
Del Mastro | Ceulemans
*Mateychuk, Allan

Milic
Brennan
*Gaudreau

I’m torn between Gaucher and Beck they are only 3 months apart in age, however Gaucher played with Canada this summer. I think Beck could be a more shut down center however.

And I like Zach Dean more than the two, I think he can surprise some eyes. Some may disagree. He’s 11 months older than Gaucher. We shall see.

Kidney was very disappointing at Canadian rookie camp

Finally had a chance to sit down and watch a some CHL the last few weeks. Some under-the-radar guys that have been mentioned by some are really catching firing and could push for spots.

First, as a few have mentioned, Jack Matier is having a monster year. Based on his performance to date, and the way HC traditionally has made decisions, I think he's a front-runner for a spot. A 19-year-old, 6'5, right shot defenseman on pace for 85 points with HC experience would be considered a lock most years.

Second, I have been really impressed by two Gatineau players; Zach Dean and Tristan Luneau. I think Dean was already in contention for a bottom 6 spot, but his play of late has cemented this for me. He's the type of player HC always has in 3rd-4th line roles, and I think he could be a very effective player. Luneau has been a beast this year, and I think he should be mentioned alongside Mateychuk, Allan and Ceulemans for the 7th d-man spot.

When do tryouts begin? Didn’t tryouts begin around the December 5th date in the past ? And players named near the end of November? It’s been a while since I payed attention to the dates.

I find this time around canAda is doing things slower then usual

Maybe slower then usual because there is no subway series.

As far as I can recall, the selection camp roster should be announced around Dec 1-2, with camp starting around Dec 9-10.

With respect to Matier (who's been the best player on a top-5 team in the country), don't forget that the 67s GM - Jamie Boyd - is also the GM of Team Canada this year. So while presumably team selection is at the discretion of the head coach, like in prior years, Matier will at least have someone at the table who can advocate for him.

I don't see him as a lock by any means, but he should be in the mix. Great size, great skater for a big man, and I think he'd add some good versatility up-and-down the defense corps. Being a RHS should probably help too.

Shane wright is being sent to AHL for 2 weeks. Confirmed

What a terrible mismanagement by the kraken. Shane has lost a lot of playing. He should have been sent to ohl to play and play and play.

Anyways this probably means he will be on team Canada 🇨🇦

I'd hope so, and it's looking that way. He should get lots of time in Coachella.
