Maybe he likes skiing.
On a serious note, he could look great beside a rejuvenated EP and a big body (Joshua?) on the other wing. Then we could use our assets on a 2C.
I am not sure anyone would look good beside EP and Joshua right now.......but obviously when each is playing to their potential, then totally agree.
not for me. i watched him closely. he made some great plays but he was avoiding physical contact even more than usual if that is possible. there was a sequence late in the final where he hesitated to go get a puck in our corner hoping the dman would do it and then turned it over leading to an extended ozone possession against and several chances. it was his puck all the way but he did not want to get hit to move it.
in fairness to marner i also think mcdavid was playing shy for most of the tournament.
This is my thoughts as well. And I know the play you are speaking about, and he absolutely bailed out and lost a puck battle he should have easily one given that he had position on the forechecker. But the other thing I noticed was that he also, at times, didn't manage the puck well in the offensive zone.
But, with that said, you can't argue with the results. He made two great passes that led directly to goals.
And his even strength production is elite and can't be ignored.
He's just a pretty flawed player, and I think you can ask legitimate questions as to whether he's the kind of guy you "win with". But as we all know, lots of players were criticized in this way until they actually won....so, tough to say.
I can see a Boeser for Bennett swap being something both teams would entertain. Panthers have a lot of players that can play centre. They are at the same impasse with Bennett as the Canucks seem to be with Boeser.
That's actually really good for both sides. I just don't know how much you want to disturb this locker room any more than you have to.
I can't really see it. I understand it, from a future perspective, but I have no idea why the Panthers would want to potentially/likely downgrade their lineup, and remove an integral component from their championship team, when they are in a good position to try repeat this year. Just doesn't make sense to me.
i don't get the attraction of bennett. he's not big, he's not fast, he's not physical, he's not good defensively and he doesn't produce. he's a complimentary player. the canucks need quality not more quantity
Bennett will get overpaid, and I think his next contract could end up stinking, but he's definitely physical.
