WJC: 2023 Team Canada Roster Talk Part 2

One of you said, and I can't remember which poster, that Craig Button was gushing over the American team? Not from what I saw - he said he expected the U.S. NOT to medal.

Was the poster being sarcastic or am I missing something?

I assume he is talking about historically, but the US has had pretty stacked teams in recent history, so Button being bullish on them makes sense.

Fair enough. He mentioned it a few times so I wasn't sure what to make of it - especially after watching the TSN Pre Tournament Special.

He seems to really know how to open the ice up to himself and make a play happen. You can see it in his game.

I have watched him live many times. Observation not fabrication. He finds open ice by hovering around the center line and waiting. Not very present in the defensive zone in the games i have watched.

Yes that was me , and I wasn’t referring to this American team but American players over the years. Players that had no business to compete for first overall but made it look like they belonged when in fact they didn’t belong. I remember mcdavid and eichel and how he made is seem close

Other players he gushed over when they had no business being gushed over. Not necessarily the American team but American players, my opinion and I stick to it. Also I don’t think he is such a good scout. My opinion

I listen to McKenzie all the rest are not in the same league , no business being on tsn

Othmann is scratched today, so we can assume that he is on the team again. Apparently Korchinski is the seventh defenceman this time and they are trying Lambos with Matier. Wheeler says that Kidney did warmups but didn't take his line's first shift, Gaucher replaced him.

Also the cuts are expected shortly after the game today. The team will be officially announced at an event in Moncton tonight.
 
Bankier having a good camp? I’m so excited to see the final roster. What a tournament this is going to be.

nice goal in the 1st game, and now two assists. Points are one thing, though, overall play is another, though I know that his size (6'2") also has to be appealing. Sure would be nice if we could actually watch the scrimmages, though.

They'd have really like his two way play, AND be convinced he could keep up to the speed of WJC. He wouldn't be an option for one of the main scoring lines.

Green also has the two goals, so he is another player on the bubble who is making a great case for himself. Would hate to be the one trying to cut either of them.

The 2 guy I thought were going to get cut lol.

I guess it may be Beck and Schaefer instead

Canadas World Junior Roster is set to be announced tonight at 5:30pm, I guarantee it will get delayed. Lots of discussion needs to be done.
