Always goes up at bat swinging willy-nilly for the moon.
He never was like this unless I am not remembering correctly. Normally he's up there calm. Now it's wild. I'm surprised our hitting coach hasn't talked to him.

Casas has great playe discipline. Some might be annoyed by it, but I love it.

Beating a dead horse, but my goodness Story stinks on ice. (He is also a selfish stat padder) He is just a gem.
You're not wrong here. Story is an awful hitter. Terrible OPS, a putrid OBP. And his offensive numbers have been declining for years. Just an awful signing.

It really shouldn't be that difficult to find out if Cora was telling the truth or if this was him protesting/making a statement. Not difficult at all. If we have any reporters that still give a damn.
We still have reporters who care but the Red Sox beat is much harder now.

The "tomorrow" attitude is in many ways more infuriating than scaling back the payroll. When you hire someone from Tampa they should be able to handle the resources involved with even having a top 15 payroll and be further along in year 4 than what we are seeing right now. Theo made his fair share of big blunders but I would be absolutely be on board for round two of him here. Would John Henry bury his pride and make a run at him? Probably not, he probably costs too much.

The 3 'big market' teams in the AL East are not going to make the playoffs.

The Red Sox situation looks good compared to the mess in the Bronx.

I know the Saudi soccer "problem" isn't comparable to anything in other sports really but...

I'll grant you that. At least that Yankee squad had a pretty good run in making the playoffs and being a threat. Didn't win it all though.

Some in here who point to the minor league system and the Baseball America rating and like to high five each other over it.
With the biggest weakness on the major league team, starting pitching, also being the biggest weakness in the farm system.

It's one of the things wrecking baseball IMHO.
The pitch clock was a good start. Next up: MSPGA

I know I sound like an old :wally: but when I was growing up the starting pitcher stayed in until he got into trouble and even then many times the manager would let him try to work his way out of it. If he couldn't do it only then was the reliever called in to take over. None of this bringing in a particular pitcher to face a particular batter that he routinely got out. I was glad when the 3 minimum batters faced rule was put in, it was getting ridiculous & slowing the game down even more.

Complete games by the starting pitcher were routine then, now it is a rarity.

Only one long term.

Only one.

The Sox need to approach it like the Braves do, imo.
Not just the Braves, but look at what the Rays did with Wander Franco, the Mariners with Julio Rodriguez, etc.

That's the new best practice around MLB. Move away from buying at the top of the market, and get your younger star players under contract for as long as possible, as soon as you can.
