It’s soooo over

They will be lucky to win 15 more games

Let’s see what they learn from going all the way ‘half’ in

Cora clearly wants out

Unless Bloom says it wasn’t his idea to put that pitching staff together he’s responsible

If Tom Werner is running ownership part we are in trouble

If you're firing Cora, just make sure you fire Bloom too. That's all I ask.
But you know they won’t

They’ll Promote Varitek and bring back Joe Kelly

He does still have a .342 OBP. That isn't terrible. Certainly not in Trevor Story category.

His offense and defense are down significantly this year. I'm hoping they can straighten that out next year. His plate discipline wasn't like this. He's rushing it. He wants to just hit homer's and thats just not realistic every time at the plate. He's gotta get better.

His defense is...well...you know

Rafael Devers is quietly climbing up the ranks in games played as a Red Sock. He has appeared in more games than Mookie Betts, Ellis Burks, Jacoby Ellsbury, and Jerry Remy. In about two weeks he will pass Fred Lynn.

I still see him like a really young kid.

I'll say it again despite the fact that a lot of people here don't like it. Cora is not a great manager. I get that he got a mixed bag of players with a few injury derailments along the way. That said I feel as though his on field management/strategy/leadership is lacking. He wants to be buddies with certain players, that's not how it works. In my opinion, he is not a great leader or teacher. So what is he? I say he's a guy, as many others have said, that seems like he wants out. It could be because they didn't give him the roster he wanted or that he's tired of the way the team is run out of the executive suite but whatever it is he just seems to have not stepped up in his role for the entire season. I think they made a mistake when they brought him back. As far as I'm concerned he can go wherever he wants and bang on some trash cans again. It's time for new leadership on the field in the role of manager. It's a tough world but firing a baseball manager whose team underperformed is not a novel idea. Whatever happens with the front office happens separately and not because of what they end up doing with Cora or due to a bad season. In my mind that's a separate but valid discussion.

You have good points here, and I would say his strength is in game strategy and not teaching fundamentals of any kind. However, Bloom must go and take his gutless, backwards defeatist mindset with him. Unfortunately, I do not see a scenario where they both leave. Bloom has been terrible overall, but barring fifteen more games like this, he will be the one left standing.

You think we have problems?

At this particular moment, with the White Sox hopelessly floundering and the search for the Guaranteed Rate Field shooter ongoing, I wonder how many people would be broken up if the team went away. Moved, relocated, vamoosed.

Granted, the question is being raised at a time when the people who follow the club are at low ebb. The Sox are terrible at baseball, which is considered a very bad thing in their line of work, and they’re still dealing with a shooting incident in the left-field bleachers that would be bad enough on its own merits. Throw in the poor decision-making and the seeming befuddlement of officials, and you can see how the accumulated frustration of the paying customers might reach a breaking point.

How much can one group of fans be expected to absorb without losing that loving feeling?

My sense is that there are two groups of White Sox fans: Those who know they’re in a bad relationship and those who think that being abused is normal. Both could find it liberating to be team-less and Jerry-less.

Id say that’s the season. Good effort. I think Cora cost them 5-10 games this year with debacle level decisions. Hopefully he’s canned and Bloom brings in his own guy.

Bloom needs a big off-season as well or he’s done too. The next GM would reap the benefits of a deep farm though.

Team took Cora’s lead in game 1 and punted on the season
So we have decided to ignore the pitchers that were unavailable? Or is there breaking reporting that I have missed. This team was doing jack shit regardless of Monday night.

Cora can only pull a rabbit out of a hat so many times a year before talent and better roster construction prevail.
Let's all remember the stat that was provided in this thread. That only the Oakland As have gotten fewer innings pitched from starters. And if the complaint is that Cora pulls starters too early, that is a trend/directive that has come from GMs across the board.

If anyone thinks Alex Cora has prevented this team from being a playoff team i am pretty sure they own multiple bricks.
