I guess Casas whole deminer bothers me. He seems overly cocky and watching him admire his long fly ball just reminded me of a Reggie Jackson pose.

Anyone else get this kind of vibe from him?
He could give me a-hole vibes and I wouldn't care if he actually hits the ball. So far he's been nothing short of putrid. Forget BA or OBP, it's his slugging % that is extremely concerning based on the type of player he is supposed to be.

I am happy to be wrong about the team so far this year but for the love of god, not this guy. People can hope all they want, the guy is a washed up nothing.
I'm not sure what the basis is for calling him a washed up nothing.

I understand that his health is an ongoing concern, but if he's healthy and can somewhat approximate what he was from 2016-19, then he could be a valuable piece of the puzzle.

2019 is now 4 years ago. That's a long time. Hence the washed up nothing. He has given the Red Sox nothing and I am confident that's how it will end up.

Confidence in it is one thing, but it's like you're trying to will it into existence when we don't fully know yet.

The possibility that he's washed may be greater than getting value out of him, BUT the possibility he offers value is still there.

Feels like you'd rather Paxton return for 2-3 starts, get absolutely mollywhopped and be released to be right and have another slash against Bloom, than Paxton come in and be good for a team who could use starting pitching.

Paxton needs to come back and be a reliable arm that can get them to 5th/6th inning. That's it. He's going to get the chance. Finally. But whatever helps the agenda! Boo Paxton! Boo!! You bum, Paxton!!

No Masa tonight. Hoping more to do with a scheduled day off, than the HBP the other night where they immediately pulled him.

Hoping the Sox continue the play ball! Verdugo makes his return to the starting lineup. Kluber on the mound against lefty, Bailey Falter.

Not convinced Paxton can’t be a valuable swing man either
Of course you're not. He was good in 2019. There's no logical reasoning to think he'll give the Red Sox anything. So in that regard, fine, take anything he gives them as a bonus.

The team is 20-14 so whether or not Paxton gives them anything probably doesn't matter. I am just giving an opinion that I think it was a wasted signing and I don't think he's going to give them anything. He'll get hurt again or be ineffective. Again, that's an opinion. I have nothing against him personally and won't be actively rooting against him if we finally get to see him on the mound. I'd rather not even see him at all at this point! But hey maybe it's actually happening.

How doesn't it matter? If he pitches and helps them win games, that's a positive? You don't have to keep reiterating it's an opinion. We know. About 99% of the posts on here are an opinion. Kind of common knowledge when signing up for a message board.

I just don't understand the stance with this one. Agree to disagree on Paxton.

Hell baby
big hit by arroyo

Side note- schwarber’s d has given the Sox 3 runs in 2 games

Edit: 4 now if you think a solid LF throws arroyo out there

Schwarber's a -0.8 defensive WAR entering tonight.

Yoshida stinks defensively, and he's only a -0.4.

Isn't the logical reasoning that if Paxton is healthy, he's generally pretty good, and now he seems to be healthy again?
You're not factoring in the large gap from when he was last a good pitcher. It's not like he was great in 2021 and then had an injury last year. Plus I would also be very surprised if he does stay healthy. But if we actually get to see it, so be it. I would have a very short hook with him on this roster.

So, what's the injury concern for Paxton at this point?

He's coming back from TJS, which is hardly career-ending. He had a muscle strain last year, which again, is not something that seems to be chronic.

You could say that anytime Chris Sale pitches too. He's currently healthy and pitching. Does that mean we all expect him to stay healthy? It's not just an injury concern with Paxton though. You can't just assume he'll be effective as ever after a few years. He's what, 34? Let's see what it looks like though. Maybe he can be better than Kluber.

What is Chaim's contract status? Probably angling for an extension right about now.
