Kind of a weird move. Strong had been on a lot of 53-man roster projections and they're trading him for a guy who's only ever been on practice squads. They're definitely light at tackle, but I would have guessed they'd try to get someone with some actual game experience.

Last year Zappe was the right kind of QB for a kindergarten offense with predetermined throws or one read plays similar to what he ran in college.

With BOB and a pro style offense, that demands the QB make pre snap reads, audible out of bad plays and situations, go through multiple progressions in a drop back. Mac is the easy best choice here for this system

Hell baby
Alex Barth doesn’t like the trade but he made a good point- they were running a different run scheme last year that Strong was a much better fit for. This run scheme is reverting back to the hard up the middle runs

I think Rieff is still hurt and won't play in the opener.

Pats should of shored up their OL in the BEGINNING of the summer, not the end. But alas

Ya Gasper was saying yesterday on the Saturday show that there was a good amount of OL available back some months ago but they all got scooped up quickly and Pats did nothing.

Think this is the 9th offensive lineman they have drafted, signed or traded for since last years draft. I have thought that for non left tackle linemen, you can have a good line and constantly replace them if you spend enough draft capital on it but might have to reconsider that if neither of the two they just traded for can work at right tackle after spending money on two of them in free agency and drafting a guy they thought could transition there

I honestly think there is a substantial gap between the two and I don’t think that Mac Jones is that good
What Mac struggles with is too important for him to be anything more than a bottom 10 level starting qb in the league. I don't think the gap between that and solid backup which Zappe has shown so far is that much. Ideally neither are your starting qb.

A kindergarten offense made Mac regurgitate the football constantly? It just doesn't make sense that Zappe could do just fine as a rookie compared to 1st round Mac in his 2nd year. They were both under the tutelage of Tweedle Dee and Tweedle Dumb. But regardless, fresh start for Mac. But he better start strong or it will get ugly at Gillette again. The fans aren't gonna take anymore turnover fests.

Pierre Strong is a nothing burger. Just a complete non factor. So I suspect this OL will be the same. Teams aren't giving up good OL right before the season for a backup RB.

I don't know... I just went back and looked at all of the RBs drafted in the 4th round in the past 3-4 drafts. There's Dameon Pierce, Rhamondre Stevenson... and a bunch of guys I guarantee you won't be drafting for your fantasy team.

I don't think the phrase making an immediate impact means being Rhamondre Stevenson. I think the point would be Pierre Strong couldn't serve as a backup. There's a very large gap there. He's not talking about being an impactful fantasy player. While I don't think it's that big of a deal they absolutely bungled the RB position in letting Harris go to Buffalo but not having a competent internal replacement. But ultimately I don't think backup RB will have much of an impact at all on how this team does. That will come down to the OL and if Mac Jones is ready to stop pouting.

The entire team was pouting last season for good reason. It was like a guy bagging groceries all of a sudden being Chief of Surgery. It was never going to work, to to allow Bill to hire Pencil dick to run an offense was f***ing embarrassing as a fan.

Do you honestly think this is a defense of Mac Jones? That a second year quarterback was justified in pouting and having it impact his play?

To me that's a huge indictment of him as a professional.
