FWIW, reports out of Japan indicate that Yamamoto received 10-15 offers in the hours after he was posted.

Article says he does not have a West Coast preference, but that he does want to play on a team with fellow Japanese players. He expects to make a decision after the December 3rd GM meetings.

As for Shota Imanaga...

I've got to imagine Red Sox and Mets are very high on his list.

Would be a great big splash for Breslow.

Yamamoto has said he wants to play for a team with other Japanese players. There aren’t many teams that fit that description: Red Sox, Mets, Cubs, Rangers, Padres, Twins, Jays and A’s. Ohtani has yet to sign, and that might not come by the end of the 45-day window. It’s likely a safe bet to eliminate the A’s, Twins and Padres. I’d be surprised if the Rangers were involved, but it could happen. Despite this list the Dodgers and Yankees can’t be counted out.

This is fascinating. The video provides a better explanation of why a baseball team would be willing to spend an obscene amount of money to sign Ohtani. The cliff notes version is that the Angels made $70 million a season before Ohtani even took the field. That's solely from advertising sold to Japanese companies. There were about 6 million people in Japan who watched each Angels game last season. The most-watched game in the U.S. for the entire season was 2 million. A team could pay Ohtani $40 million per season and still make a $30 million profit.

As an aside, Ohtani has told interested teams that he doesn't want them to indicate whether he will, does or has visited with them. It will be weighed against a team if the information gets out. Have to think that Cashman throwing Stanton under the bus for his injuries would give Ohtani pause about signing with the Yankees.

Yamamoto is a dominant arm that would be a great starter for the Sox. He would also enjoy playing with Masa Yoshida again too. Imanaga wouldn't be a bad get either but he's more middle of the rotation and the Sox need a new ace.

Can you believe it's been twenty Thanksgivings since the infamous Theo Epstein Curt Schilling Thanksgiving dinner?

2003 seems like forever ago.

Ohtani's not just a big ad revenue stream in Japan. His games with the Angels get televised here in Taiwan as well to lots of viewers and draws interest from advertisers here in Taiwan for products. The only player in Taiwan that had more pull than Ohtani does now was Chien-Ming Wang, their native baseball hero.

Apparently, he’s not prioritizing another Japanese player on a potential team, as previously reported.
If it was reported that he was, now being reported that he isn't... chances are these reporters are just talking out their a** and are just reporting what fits their team narrative the best.
