Of course you are right about FSG, but there are other factors. There are deserving internal candidates, like Romero, who are tough on outsiders. The farm system is only built up about halfway, and Bloom's mess is probably going to take a minimum of three years to fix.I'd use a different word: embarrassing.
They've got some good building blocks on the roster, farm has been rebuilt, and the payroll has been cleaned up. It should be one of the most desired jobs in baseball. But it isn't, because FSG has absolutely crushed their reputation.
