I know, and I was wondering which ones you thought were wrong. He sighted even strength production as one of them, goals per game.He also had a higher corsi than Bergeron and Marchand.

I don't use advanced stats.

My only point was that if they say Debrusk was one of the best forwards in the league last season, they aren't very good. In my opinion.

This is the issue, you and others are under the assumption that if chara is moved one year or if krug is moved another then it would have automatically made them worse and they wouldn’t have even made it to the cup in 2018. All while completely disregarding the potential return that could have helped them out.

I wasn’t really talking about krug, I’m more referencing players over the age of 35 that I would move on from. Especially a 2015 team that missed the playoffs with chara. He would have 100% been traded.

However we can see how the current model of keeping players into and past their mid 30s has faired and it hasn’t been a winning formula.

And yes it’s a failure to not win the cup for a team in the bruins situation. When you spend out the ass yearly to win with an aging group, any year you don’t win is a failure because you’re not building towards anything except a championship. Sure it’s a different convo for a team say like the devils who are on the rise and have gone from rebuilding to now competing, getting closer with a younger team and are building, but now their window is starting. Where as the bruins window is ending.
I just think we cannot possibly have a fair discussion here coming down to the fact that you consider only one season (2011) in the last 50+ as a success.

But hey, maybe you're right and they should have moved Thomas (36 years old), Chara (33 years old), Savard (33 years old) and Recchi (43 years old) before the 2011 season started instead of keeping good players into their mid 30s and later...clearly no one told them there is only one single strategy to win a cup, and that's having a team of all guys under 30.

Idk how you read the last paragraph of what you quoted and then wrote the first paragraph as a response. Assuming you just didn’t read it and responded.

Awful deal

I vaguely remember Sweeney saying 50 times his goal for the offseason was to get younger and build around his young core with similarly aged players.

He has done borderline the exact opposite this offseason and this would be another step in the wrong direction.

The caveat being Debrusk still wants out and won’t sign an extension

This place needs some excitement because the shit I've read today sounds like elementary school arguments.

Did Bergy sign yet? :rolleyes::cool:
I take issue with that post. Don’t have any reason to do so, but I do. And I can. Because.

(I agree fully with you, just having some fun. Total shit show here today……)

Just wondering because I saw him refer to goals per game and I don’t consider that an advanced stat.
I wouldn’t say he was one of the best forwards in the league, but he was one of the best on the team.

The rumor originated from an Islanders blogger who suggested the idea as something that would work for the Islanders.

This seems about right. If Sweeney did this trade he would probably have to move and change his name.
