When did you start ranking Wood higher?

I can agree with those 4 but I think at 6/7 it's probably between Reinbacher or Dvorsky.

I'd trade down to 10 and try and land a 2nd or something like that if Wood is the guy we're taking. If he's gone you might land Reinbacher which will most likely be gone by 11

I've started to go through everything a final time now and Woods season wirh his U18s just can't be ignored. The feet aren't great but they're not that bad with everything else he has.

I like Wood and DD, and I'm a lot more confident with Nicholas on the staff and all, but still, drafting guys with skating issues still scares me quite a bit Historically we've done terrible with those.

Yeah, you have to take some risks sometimes. With Wood you're getting the best U17 BCHL scorer in a generation, the best U18 NCAA PPG in a generation (lead his team in scoring as a true freshman, a year early), and one of the most productive U18s for Canada ever, a guy who stepped up with a medal on the line with 4 pts on 4 goals.

If you're not drafting Wood, who are you drafting? Perfect prospects are rare.

I trust more Benson/Leonard than Wood.

Still Benson/Leonard for me if we draft 5-6-7.

I like that too. Personally Id just grab Reinbacher or Benson at 6, but getting either of those or Wood/Dvorsky + a pick does sound good too. At worst you get Yager/Leonard? Could be a lot worse!

Moving back probably ensures youre not getting a core piece though, unless Yager booms.

Exactly. We have lots of depth in the system. Package depth for higher quality.

Concerning Carlsson, maybe moving up could be a realistic option to get him assuming a team in the top 3 really likes Michkov and knows he will surely fall to 5 (imo CHI). Lets say this is the draft order :
1. ANA : Bedard
2. CLB : Fantilli
3. CHI :
4. SJ :
5. MTL :

As I see it, SJ would surely take Carlsson if hes there at 4th, but they might be scared of Michkov especially with a guy like Smith available. So, lets say CHI knows that and also wants to add more picks, maybe they call KH knowing he surely loves Carlsson and asks him for the 5th OA and 37th OA. That way, CHI could get the guy they're taking anyway + a high second, and MTL secures a superb player in Carlsson (who's imo is much better than Smith).

If Habs swap trade with Chicago it’s not for Carlsson, it’s going to be to make sure they grab Smith.

I hate Leroux because of unrelated hockey reasons but you do realize he has worked with the Habs media manager for 30 years, right?

Leroux is 100% connected to the organization. He announced Slafkovskys selection a good 30 minutes before.

I think it’ll come down to Dvorsky vs Leonard. Both are great all around forwards with size and great left handed shots. Both are sure fire top 6 players with the potential to be much more. I’d be happy with either.

Michkov will either be taken or off our board.
