Gulhe isn't as fast on the ice as Dahlin/Makar, why?
1) First 3 steps acceleration
2) Pivot under pressure.

What Guhle did on McDavid there is the intelligent thing to do when you don't think you will have time for your pivot. I have no problem with this. The issue is "why do you think you won't have time for your pivot?" Because it's not as good as the rest of your skating.

But you’re right, it sucks. The fact we busted on two straight 3rd overall selections and a trade for one (Drouin) is downright laughable.

edit: Before anyone says those three weren’t busts, yes they were. Relative to draft position they were garbage picks.

As someone who was very high on Dobson his draft year and very much liked him at 3, Reinbacher reminds me quite a bit of him.

Neither are necessarily wizards with the puck but they know where to be at the right time and the right place and play with enough swagger to be difference makers at both ends.

Price, Subban and Caufield are those guys. Price peaked higher than all and Subban+Caufield provide better value pick wise.

Its when the Habs have the obvious picks that it sucks. #3, #3, #1, #5, #9 ...

There's a solid chance someone drafted outside the 1st round will be better than Slaf and/or Cooley

Caufield should have been a top 5 pick,so there's that. He's a superb talent. Not bad odds he becomes that kinf of player.

Nah man you need to lay off the SQDC. I love Price but he won 1 Vezina and McDavid is playing at a level we haven't seen since Lemieux.

For the sake of the debate, though, I'd be hard pressed to find a habs fan who regrets taking him 5th OA.

If it was just me he would be one of my choice for that pick. I think 17 might be too high but teams like colombus and carolina likes russians so he might be taken at the end of the first round and we won’t have a chance at him.

He went to the SCF 1x and made the ECF twice, for all intents and purpose, he has had more success so far in his career.

I think Reinbacher is a more offensively polished Guhle (in his draft year).

Guhle might have a bit more upside but I think it’s damn close. Can’t discount him being close to josi’s ppg.

Him being polished could hurt his ultimate upside because you don’t know how much room there is for improvement. But that’s obviously a bit of a half truth. Definitely bodes we’ll for his floor though.

I think he’s my guy. He’s a safe pick but still high upside. I think people are turned off by the lack of flash which sometimes gets confused with upside. I think he’s just very efficient which is great for his offence translating.

No rrasons at all to go for But at 17, hes so far out talent wise. A guy like Halttunen is gonna be available for sure in the 2nd round and his package is just as intriguing.

A sub PPG season in the MHL should never, absolutely never get you drafted in the top 20.
