If we pick 5th, the Panthers lose and we pick 17th.....Does our 5th and 17th picks get us #2 overall? If we have to add, who would we need to include? Is it even worth it because we still have many holes.

3 could move to 2.. 2 or 3 ain't moving out of that.

5th, 17th and Cole Caufield should get us there

And we would be beyond stupid to do that.

What's the explanation for his weak production?

I wouldn't call his production weak. He was the only player of his team scoring at a point per game clip. The next best forward scored had 0,76 PPG. But was also Yaroslavl's scoring leader in the playoffs with nine points in seven games. He was clearly the most talented player of his team. While the team was not bad and had lots of depth it lacked high-end-talent besides But who admittedly had some consistency issues. He is far from a finished product and needs some polishing, but in the late first or earlys second I would bet on that huge upside.

No freaking kidding. Caufield is already a 45 goal man , pushing 50 , essentially.

There’s a legitimate chance neither Fantilli or Carlsson end up impacting a game the way Caufield can.

The gap from 5 to 2 certainly doesn’t involve Cole Caufield. Especially this year when there will still be a Michkov/Smith/Carlsson/Benson available at 5.

Ya why trade Cole he scored 26 goals…
He was on pace for 45 goals…
So why trade our 50 goal scorer?
I don’t like this idea of getting rid of our 70 goal man.

Dave Poulin is one of the worst announcer/analysts out there. He doesn’t even watch prospects.

Not that I trust Button either.

Just was bringing up there's a real divide on Dvorsky's offensive projection.

This is where I'd be interested to read the quotables in the Black Book.

That's why i'm less nervous with this team picking Smith. Being in the NCAA and away from our development system for atleast another year is a big plus.
I know that everyone is all cranky about Slafkovsky but you don't actually still believe this after watching Dach, Caufield, Suzuki, Guhle, Harris, Xhekaj, Harvey-Pinard, Barron, Ylonen, etc. this year, do you?

And yes of course if we draft Smith or any of the other American prospects I'm perfectly OK with them playing a year in college.

But I at least get the impression that Button watches prospects, he just has a different opinion. Dave Poulin can barely string a sentence together while doing colour commentary.

I think with this tournament, Dvorsky certainly cemented his spot in the Top 10 (if he wasn't already). He was more impressive than Sale for sure.

I don't think Sale hurt his stock either, but he didn't improve it if that makes sense. He's pretty much what I thought he was. Great speed and skills.

Can he start by scoring 40 before calling him an already 45 goal man ? He didn’t even score 30 yet

Of course Price was a fantastic pick. I'm just saying if we're gonna have one single top 5 pick hit in my life I wish it wasnt a goalie.
Personally, I’m extremely happy with having the best player in the league between 2014-2016

I know youre just trolling thats too ridiculous

It's the truth.

They sold you Carey. Like Nike sold you Jordan.

For me, Dvorsky projects as a 70 pts 1B center with great puck possession skills, great shooting/scoring skills and a complete 200 ft game. He is a power center.

Smith might score you 10 more pts per year, but wont bring as much consistency and reliability, wont bring you a puck possession game either.

Drafting for the less talented more “reliable” player has never worked for the Habs.

Due to his name alone Will Smith is on my Do Not Draft list but if he’s got the higher offensive upside he’s the one to get. Dvorsky is also on my Do Not Draft list because three Slovaks of dubious appreciable upside is far too much risk.

The Habs have to draft the most talented offensive player they can.
