Online Series: Star Trek : Strange New Worlds Season 3

What's strang is that they're calling this Star Trek.
SNW has been riding TOS-esque story telling it's entire run, and I'd say it's been pretty successful. There are a few lame duck characters and plots, but overall it's the best live-action ST we've had by a wide margin.

Still not as good as LD, but that's a hard rank to hit.

And the Lower Decks cross-over episode was the best episode of the show. Though I did have a soft spot for the musical episode.

You don't think that it's a problem that this is the best live-action ST by a wide margin and still not as good as a cartoon?

That was his opinion. I think it's slightly better than the cartoon. But they shouldn't be compared to each other in a way, since one is animation and one is live action. Overall, SNW is the best live action Star Trek since Voyager.

LD is exceptional media, and It is by far the purest ST we've had since VOY. SNW is really good imo, but LD is much better.

Earlier, you said Picard Season 3. Regardless, it's still not saying much, IMO. All that matters to me is how these shows compare to what Trek was, not what it's become.

I strongly disagree that Lower Decks is "pure Star Trek." If you enjoy it, that's fine, but it's nothing like TOS, TAS, TNG, DS9 or even VOY (though the main characters becoming salamanders and breeding because it's funny does sound like something that would happen on LD).
Lower Decks is more or less a giant love letter to all Star Trek shows, films and history.
It's a love letter from people who don't understand Star Trek and have reduced it to references and gags. The best love letters to Trek (The Orville, Star Trek: Continues, Otoy's Unification, etc.) have all been from people outside of CBS/Paramount.

Since Lower Decks as a show was brought up, I brought a whole show as a comparison instead of one great season of a show.

They most definitely understood Star Trek.
