Cristall eh….I honestly know nothing of this player….i know who he is but i couldn’t say if he’s worthy of such a high ranking.

Similar size as Benson, reminds me of Patrick Kane the way he plays, ultra skilled, produces everywhere ( better PPG than Benson this year, on a tire fire team).

Concern about his intensity, though.

Benson should be our target. We need an offensive dynamo. Being left-handed is neat as well, as it will complement Caufield and Suzuki on the PP. Reinbacher is way more risky in my opinion, and I'm not convinced that he will be better than Barron and Mailloux.

The top three is set in stone. If nobody draft Russians, then Smith and Benson will likely go next. To have a chance at Benson, we need to stay at five. We may not win the lottery, but we better pray that the teams that win do not leapfrog us.

We actually could lol, it's like everyone is accepting the fate that the Habs are not winning. Honestly were f***ing due after missing out on Sid, Matthews, Dahlin and Svechnikov.

I would definitely pick Reinbacher before Michkov.

I prefer Smith to move up a spot...followed by Ryan Leonard. We can pick Cristall or Wood with our Florida pick.

I dont get why we absolutely need another D (aka Reinbacher).

Is perfect moving forward. We need highend offensive talent (Benson, Leonard, Michkov)

Barron is a 2nd pairing defenceman at best. Mailloux is no certainty. Matheson is almost 30. There’s a big need for someone you can count on in all situations.

Plus if you happen to have an abundance of defencemen, you can trade one to fill a hole. Romanov basically got the Habs Dach, and Romanov isn’t anything special.

Also, if we are to trust the Habs and NYR scouts, it would be in selecting defencemen. They already got two of the current biggest steals of 2022 (lots can change) in Hutson and Engstrom

Reinbacher is actually better than Seider during his draft year I find. I remember on draft day when everybody was schocked because Seider was picked at 6OA and Button saying « if you pick him at 6 it means you see some untapped offensive potential, I don t see it ». Same thing with Reinbacher : much harder to get quality offensive zone time when you play with men in Europe than when you play with your peer group in NA.


3rd round is my guess, like Engstrom last year. If some team really wants a D maybe end of round 2 but I doubt it.

Seider is 6f4 and Reinbacher 6ft (on hokeydb), are they really good comparable? Huge size/reach difference.

Quality defensemen will always hold great value. we got a 2nd for Kulak who is a decent bottom pairing defenseman, an unprotected 1st for Chairot, David Savard earned the Jackets a 1st ect. Im pretty sure a kid like Kovacevic is now a valuable asset, kid played solid hockey all season, Matheson found his 2nd gear with the Habs, could easily fletch a really nice return, same with David Savard who struggled to adapt at first, but has become a solid piece on our backend. Edmundston lost value because of his back, but an healthy Edmundston probably gets you a late 1s tor at least a 2nd pick.

Reinbacher has all the tools to become an impact defenseman, but Im effraid he gets picked at 4 or 5 with Michkov likely dropping.

One of the Cs, i guess. Would be tragic to pass on Michkov but I think pushing Suzuki down to 2C is more important.

Slim. Maybe Fantilli. I dont see it for Carlsson, hes a Smith but without Smiths weakness and more size.

Actually it depends on HuGos evaluation but if the Habs truely think Dach is a C moving forward, that might gives them the confidence to go with Carlsson. The safe pick is probably Fantilli. He probably has a higher floor and is probably around a guaranteed 35g-80pt player in the NHL

Fantilli all the way. He would bring so much to our club. Maybe not the higher IQ, but man that mix of size,speed,shot,drive,athletism is insane. Let's hope we draft top2.

If we get the 2nd pick, I’ll really get into the nitty gritty of Carlsson vs Fantilli, but right now I’d take Fantilli. Sure he might have the odd brain fart, but he’s gonna be a superstar. The IQ issue isn’t one where it affects him regularly or limits his upside or makes him high risk… rather just once in a while he does something dumb. But at the end of the day he’s a fantastic package of ability so you live with the odd dumb mistake.

I dont think there is a wrong pick there, both have great tools, we would be lucky to get either.

Probably a player that will be in our range we the FLA pick, but probably not a player I would pick because I’m sure there will be a FW that I would value more.
