Suchanek - Goalie, Tri-City Americans is someone we should be considering drafting with one of our later picks. He played for Czechia in the WJC.

He has been passed over in the Draft twice but i like his poise, he has decent size and he’s someone to my eyes has got it. Whether that’s NHL or AHL we’ll have to see but he’s worth a shot in my opinion.

I'm more than willing to revise my interpretations on Dvorsky if he comes out and shows some things at the U18s.

I was hoping to see more from him away from the Allsvenskan at the WJCs, but I saw more of the same.. so the U18s will be the spot to tell me, he has the skills and he's just not comfortable using them against higher competition, or he doesn't have the skills and WYSIWYG
My money would be on him obliterating the U18s. His rate of production as a draft-eligible player in SWE-J20 this year is historic, albeit in only a 10-game sample size.

I've been running the tankathon sim once a day for the last while. Three of the last 4 days we had 2 Montreal Bedard wins and one Florida win (up to 5th, us down to 7th with Buffalo winning the other lotto). I hope I'm not using up all our luck lol

But thinking about it, I actually wonder if outside of us winning Bedard that maybe a Florida lotto win would be a better outcome than us winning lotto #2. Would we rather have #2 and #14 or #5 and #7 like the scenario I mentioned above? I think I'd take 5 and 7. We could grab Reinbacher and still get one of Michkov/Benson/Smith. In fact I think having the extra pick would entice the front office to actually take Michkov. Imagine an outcome where we get Reinbacher and Michkov? Good lord

Stats wise he looks impressive.

Take Benson at 5, or 6 if he's there. With Florida's pick take Honrek, Wood, Danielson, But, someone else ? Get the skill and the size ?

Assuming the Habs suck again next year what's the probability of a Reinbacher type dman being available top 10 next season ?
Theres a lot of really good dmen next year. Thats why we must go all out in F this year and wait next year for a top pairing dmen. People seems to want another pick for this years draft, but Id rather acquire a 2024 first in order to secure one of the top Ds (moving up)

What's the cutoff for Canada U18s typically? Is it eliminated in round 1 or 2?

Among forwards:
Barlow, Ritchie and Cristall are down 0-2
Lardis is down 2-1
Heidt and Lind are tied 1-1
Yager, Rehkopf and Howe are up 2-0

Wood should be there I imagine. Do USHLers (Perron, Celebrini) and/or BCHLers (Nadeau) typically attend?
I remember Jost and Newhook both being there, but was that because they were eliminated from playoffs?

Usually it would be your round 1 eliminated prospects, and some prospects join that are eliminated in round 2. I remember Veleno coming in a bit later and being total trash bag.

That Tkachuk shouldn’t have been the pick for us. He’s a great player. Trying to knock him at this point just makes one look bad.
Tkachuk should've been the pick because Bergevin couldn't know oxygen if they showed it to him. Mfer picked the biggest project in history and plugged him on the third line as a grinder, still can't believe this shit.

Realistically though, were in the same spot with Tkachuk or not, he doesn't move the needle much and he's overpaid for what he brings.

Suchanek is fine in 5+ but there's much better option than him early. Bjarnasson/Fowler in the 2nd half of the 2nd, Clara in the third, Zavragin, Hellnemo and Gajan in the 3/4, Ego, Yegorov in the 5th.

Jatkola maybe ?
The Habs need at least 2 of those IMO. Load up on those euro and NCAA guys.

There was a lot of good Dman last year too and they chose to go for the weak forward crop.

The 2024 crop isn't an outstanding defending crop. Reinbacher needs to remain a serious option at 5.

I'm absolutely on team "move Florida's pick to get Carlsson at 3".

We need the quality > quantity so badly.

It'd have to be a team with such a shallow prospect pool it would make sense.. I just can't think of a team that could pick 3 that this would be the case.

San Jose has only Eklund up front.
Chicago has Reichel and maybe Nazar.
Anheim only has one 1st and needs like 3 more wingers to play with Zegras and McTavish.

I could see a preference for Benson/Smith + Sale/Yager/Danielson/Barlow from anyone of these teams.

From the very little I've seen of Reinbacher he reminds me a little bit of Jiricek. How do they compare? And why is he so low on all the draft lists, did he just come out of nowhere this season?

Reinbacher doesn't have that dynamic offensive game that Jiricek has, their similarities offensively is the big shot but Jiricek is much more implicated in the rush, will jump in on the cycle, etc.

Reinbacher does have a more polished defensive game.

Reinbacher should end up in the top 10 of -most- draft lists, he did come out of nowhere. He's an Austrian defender playing in the Swiss league.

Never once said Tkachuk shouldn’t have been the pick in our conversation. If anything looks bad, it’s equating Barlow to Tkachuk. He’s not at all like him.
Whenever people talk about 2018, I remember how outta whack my ideal pick would have been considering we drafted 3rd and he went 11th or 12 (Dobson) then again, I'd take Dobson over that KK pick 10/10 times

Is Columbus in full rebuild ? And as I recall they beat to their own drummer at the draft. Likely we would need a 3rd team involved to do a Dach kind of trade to trade up.

I wouldn't think any of the bottom 4 teams would deal their pick, but we need to give it a go if we don't win the lottery.

They're not so they will just add the best prospect they can and will move forward.
