Why are people repeating this notion of “another” small forward? Going forward, the only small player I see as a fixture in the Top 6 is Caufield. Slaf, Dach, likely PLD, and Suzuki are not small.

People are stuck thinking we are still the 2009-10 Canadiens.
Think RHP is a part of our top 9… plus Mesar…Some really like Farrell too.

Guess you’re right, not that small overall, but I’m not advocating for size here rather guys where size isn’t a knock. And I do think size does need to be mentioned for Benson. He doesn’t play small, and that’s what makes him even more a question mark. Caufield is small, plays small, you know he’s small it just doesn’t matter. In fact Caufield uses his smallness to his advantage. Benson on the other hand plays completely fearless and part of me worries he’s going to get absolutely demolished in the NHL if he doesn’t adjust his game.

Curious to see what he actually measures. If he’s 5’11” that would move him up my board.

It should be pointed out I was higher on Hutson than anyone here last year. I don’t hate the smols
Thats so ridiculous dude... It's literally 2 cm.

Look down, thats probably more than 1/5 of what you have.

Gotta go BPA, if that’s Benson at 5, you gotta take him, whether the player is 5’1” or 6’10” you gotta go with the best player available. If you have too many small guys in your lineup, you eventually move one later on.

I want a player who will pull me out of my seat! Montreal has a healthy prospect pool and a better development team. Now it's time to swing for the fences because Montreal needs a star!
They will have 2 picks in the top half of round one in a good draft. Now is the time to be aggressive. I personally don't care about size. Montreal can figure that out later. Pick the players with the highest skill period.

I've seen morons saying we can't take Benson because we have Caufield, RHP, Gallagher, Farrell, Mesar, etc. Literally only Caufield is a small player that's a fixture in our future forward core. The rest of those guys are filler and half of them won't even be around in a few years or make it at all.

It’s like the Wild saying “hey Devils, do you want Kaprizov” and the Devils say “nah we already have Hughes and Bratt, we don’t need more small players”

Talent is talent. Worry about size later

Yeah, but size is kind of a skill. Or at the very least an attribute that can help improve other skills. How you play along the boards, protect the puck and win 1 on 1 battles down low is influenced by size.

So if you want to pick the best player in the future, size needs to be one of your considerations.

There’s a likelihood that one or both are just not good enough to feature there. I’m talking about sure things. I wouldn’t pass on an elite talent like Benson because we have Mesar.
Totally agree. Not saying to not pick Benson. Love him. And I keep saying go BPA...and fix your lineup after.

Would you take Caufield top 5 ?

Benson isn't even 5'9, he's 178 cm, that's closer to 5'11 than 5'9.
This year is when you should be drafting a guy like Caufield, not 4 or 5 years ago.

2 years in college and then he can help us when he’s on his ELC instead of helping us not suck this year.
