I think we’ll take a RHD, if there is a suitable one available and I wouldn’t be surprised if Benson was available and taken with our pick. Somebody has to fall and he’s as likely as anyone.

I hope it's not Benson. He's good but we can't draft anymore midgets.

Unfortunately, I don't think there are any teams dumb enough to leave the pick unprotected in a draft like this. Habs were lucky with the Florida pick with the trade happening last year. Maybe the top 5 teams in the league will trade unprotected 2023 picks knowing that it would take an epic collapse to miss the playoffs. I suppose we could always hope for a GM of a crappy team to overvalue one of the Habs players or have a brain fart though.

Oliver Moore, Riley Heidt, Nate Danielson, Dalibor Dvorsky or Samuel Honzek, whoever is there with our 1st pick. All are centers.

2nd pick: David Reinbacher, or Axel Sandin-Pellikka, but neither is rated top 15 yet, so we'll see on that one. Both are RD.

If we get a third 1st round pick: Michael Hrabel (G)

With our early 2nd hoping for one of the goal scorers to still be there: Ethan Gauthier, Gabe Perreault, Koehn Ziemmer, Mathieu Cataford.

Goals for 2023 draft for the Habs :
At least, a top6 C, a top6 Winger, a RHD top4, and a good G prospect.

Ex.: Smith or Dvorsky (C), Sale, Leonard or Christall (W), Sandin Pellkka or Reinbacher (RD), and Bjarnason or Hrabal. That could be a great draft for us

Is it me, or is much of the Carlsson hype due to unsustainable production early on?

One good thing though is the emergence of Mailloux and Hutson as our top two prospects. Really takes the pressure off going defence in a draft that is very forward heavy.

He is firmly #4 out of the big 4 IMO - I consider it a big 3 at this point, while Carlsson would be huge for us, he is not in the same tier as Bedard, Fantili, and Michkov.

I prefer Bjarnarson vs. Hrabal

Could be.

There is one thing I know, one of those super touted franchise level prospects in the top 10 will bust. Just like Mailloux and/or Hutson could end-up not working out at the NHL level.

Don't count your chickens before they hatch as they say.

I think that's a silly comment to make. If I were to have doubts about someone of those four it'd most definitely be Fantilli. He's spent the past couple years playing for some pretty damn stacked teams without having to show too much offensive creativity himself.

No, the Carlsson hype is based on the fact he's f***ing awesome. His production was just a by product of that.

I mean, if rangy centers with high panic thresholds, nifty hands, high iq and playnaking ability and a high end release aren't your thing, he isn't that good.

I've only watched Barlow play in the Hlinka and he looked amazing. I'm surprised some posters are saying that his skating is a weakness. I remember his speed being the reason why he got so many breakaway goals.

I think he's awesome, but I think he's slightly over-evaluated - he still needs to work on his consistency. If you placed the top 5 players in the NHL today, you would see the difference between Bedard & Michkov vs. the rest of the pack quite distinctively.
 
We need to finish bottom 10, correct? (to be in the lottery for the 1st or 2nd or 3rd overall). I'm 99% sure about this, but not 100% sure, yet!

Finishing outside of the bottom 10 won't get us in the lottery..I assume.
(really hoping for a top 10 pick! or...playoffs! nothing in between! hoping for a shot at the lottery..to move up to 1st or 2nd or 3rd overall!! Bedard or Fantilli or Carlsson).
