Proposal: VAN - Best Forward Available

4 1sts is usually the limit for offer sheet compensation. And yes top 30 prospects get traded, I think you vastly over estimate top 30 prospects.

I wouldn't say Forsberg's untouchable, you just don't like his price tag.

4 firsts may be the limit but it's never happened before and it's a weird benchmark for a trade as opposed to an offersheet.

Also need young players on ELC contracts, don’t get fooled just because the cap is increasing. Lekk and Willander are pretty much untouchable unless it’s an offer that can’t be refused.

It all depends on who's coming back. Lekkerimakki is going to be a heck of a goal scorer and if the team plans on adding a big fish with the 20 million space in the summer, having a player on his ELC that should score 25 next season is a big plus.
Any rental should be able to be had with picks and a decent prospect
If a Hronek level forward becomes available that would loosen the strings.

Any Jets fans think Ehlers could be made available?
I'd be willing to deal Lekk but the return would have to be a player with term coming back. Want to be clear would not deal him for a rental.

48 goal scorers also don't get traded often. Eichel with a major injury got Krebs a 1st + Tuch; Hertl got two 1sts but never scored more than 35.

Sure, so two firsts or roster player, first and a decent prospect. Both those players are also centers and were younger at the time of they were traded. If you don't want to trade him that's fine but four firsts is unrealistic. I'm not even sure he's that great of a fit for Vancouver.

Fair enough, but he's not a great fit? That's a little absurd.

I wonder what the pick equivalent would be for Soucy near the deadline.

I think he has a lot of utility for a team that needs a defensive presence PK guy which always seem to be needed in the playoffs.

Maybe switch him to Hoglander. Lekk vs Hoggy is probably a preference, eye of the beholder thing.

Soucy atm is probably a 4th but if he continues to play well I wouldn't be surprised if he fetches a 3rd or possibly even a second at the deadline.........I think he's worth that to a team like Calgary atm

Utah has no reason to trade him, but I'm curious about what it would take to get Barret Hayton. What are Utah's needs? Would a Boeser sign & trade be close value?

What is the best forward available to the Canucks for the following:

2025 1st round pick
2025 2nd round pick
NHL roster players: Hoglander and/or Soucy
b-prospects - Sawyer Mynio, Arthurs Silvos, Aatu Raty, Linus Karlsson

Have cap space to work with. Ability to play centre would be a plus.

Not afraid to take on a cap hit for a good player long-term.
Krieder for 1st/Raty

Pierre Yngve Engvall is just what Vancouver needs! Soft! & Swedish!
Nope. Doesn’t fill a top 6 need…but you know that.

What’s the price in Nylander or Marner? Keeping them? Is Marner an easy re-sign as a UFA?

Rakell on Pittsburgh is having an incredible season and may be on the block.
Not the age or stylistic fit I think the Canucks are looking for. But not a bad suggestion.

Really looking for the forward version of the Hronek trade.

It’s an unsexy pick but I think the Canucks will go after Brayden Schenn.
  • Vancouver probably wants a more hard-nosed center to replace some of JT Miller’s game.
  • Statistically he has fared well against other top western conference centers over the last 1.5 seasons. See chart here.
  • The Canucks have made a major effort to reset their locker room culture mid-season and I think they hold the Schenn family in high regard (org brought back Luke Schenn twice)
  • Consider that they were willing to sign Elias Lindholm to an 8y x 8m deal to play top-nine minutes for them—I don’t think paying Schenn 3y x 6.5m will scare them off. They have the cap space.
Relatively speaking—I don’t think Schenn would be too expensive to acquire either.
