I know there was convo about this earlier here, but im starting to really love prospects like Moore, Leonard, Cristall etc., who are in the tier after the top 4 theoretically.

If we fall to 3rd would you guys trade rhat pick to say montreal who is currently sitting at 7 and 11?

I think i would. The question is like 1 of Carlsson or Michkov vs 2 of say Moore and Leonard.

Fantilli for me is beyond any trade down scenario, but Carlsson definitely isnt. I dont know about Michkov right now...
At 3, I honestly wouldn't be thrilled with Carlsson. It's a serviceable pick, but not one that'll make me jump for joy.

Honestly I would draft Cristall or Leonard at 3. Most people would call it a reach and scrutinize the pick, but I think when you fall in love with a prospect you just gotta go for it.

Could they both be available at 7 and 11? Maybe. But it's still a risk, and I'd probably just hold on to 3rd overall and get my guy.

The thing with this draft is after Bedard and Fantilli, there's a group between 3-12ish where there isn't a whole lot of separation.

They're all good, and I'd listen to an argument in favour of most of them. I think at that point you're really just picking favourites.

I won't lie, it'll be rough to miss out on the 1st or 2nd overall pick. We'd get a good player at 3rd, no doubt, but there's a drop-off after Bedard and Fantilli, and the teams picking 4-10 are probably going to draft players that wind up just as good as the 3rd overall pick.

Anyone else think that *possibly* Davidson might be spreading out his picks recieved from deals as a preparation of getting pick #3 and taking Michkov? It would allow him to build while waiting. I still think the contract scenario SUCKS, but he is by far the best of the non-Bedard/Fantilli options. To be clear I dont think this is the plan, but more of a plan c or d option. I dont love the waiting game any more then anyone else, but, that type of talent is still better then the #1ovr of the last few yrs.

No, I'd be very confident that their top 3 is Bedard, Fantilli, Carlsson.

The spreading out of picks is just a logical thing to do when you're spearheading a multi-year rebuild. It gives you much more flexibility.

Starting to look like the Hawks aren't going to be able to out-tank Columbus.
Also watch out for San Jose.

As of a day or so ago, The Athletic's standings model had the Hawks in last place.

For what little that is worth.

From those remaining games, how many can we win? This roster is built not to score. The worst team we play is Arizona but it is in their building where they play a lot better.

I wouldn't be surprised if we lost all 20. Reichel will only be around for so long. He will be sent down for the AHL playoffs at some point. The team is Seth Jones and the AHL.

CBJ, San Jose and Anaheim all have players that can put up points. We do too but at the AHL level.

Honestly, we win 4 maybe 5 and still finish with less than 60 points.

Hawks had a 5 game win streak entirely fueled by Kane's motivation to show the Rangers he had value, and Domi being hot with him.

There's not much going forward to string many wins together. They'll get some, but so will CBJ and SJ

You want to finish last because odds are most lotto draws have only 1 team bumping you down notv2...it happens but far less than justv1..

Therefore ify you finish last you have great chance to either stay at #1 or drop to justc#2...The Consolation prize would be be Fantilli at #2...

At#3 Probably Carlsson...but rather want:

1 Bedard= 100/100

2 Fantilli= 95/100

3.and 4. = Carlsson and Will Smith = 85/100
5. Michkov= either 95/100 after 3 yr wait after draft OR ZERO if he never leaves Russia

Since we are NOT going to risk on Michkov nor wait on him or take a winger over our 1C need, the above is theecorrect target ranking excot not sure if Carlsson or Smith is at #3..
Carlsson=Kopitar or Barkov type impact
Smith =Combo Joe Sakic offensively and Patrice Bergeron defensively ...checks all boxes except size/strength at this stage ..Sovwill need to musclevup sobe more forvtyebpros...butvmost 6 filters orcshirtreevhavectgatvissue...2vyearsvin NCAa should musckevhim up....Terrific work ethic...back -checks ...as Ivsaidcticks so many boxes exceptvsixe..6'9 172 but will add those 15-20 lbs and then be oro ready.

I think maybe the Hawks will win seven more games...I’m going with 7-13 record in the final 20 games
28-49-5. 61pts

Seeing as our one and only ever 1st OA pick ( that's right we've only had one? ) just left it only seems fair or perhaps karmically just that we now receive one to replace the one we lost.
Welcome Mr. Bedard.
Regarding the draft, it appears they use ping pong type balls like a standard lottery draw. Why cant they make the draw transparent like power ball etc? This would be awesome to watch live and there would be no questioning the process. Does each team receive X amount of balls more or less based on standings? The explanation I found is vague only % is given

Interesting. I wonder if he's hinting at character issues? I know Musto has a thing for small, skilled, soft players with questionable skating (although Cristall actually isn't nearly as soft as past players he likes and Strome isn't small, he just plays like he is) but I would bet the house Cristall goes in the 1st round. One of the rare times I actually like the same prospect as Musto.
