When with Bedard (hypothetically speaking) the Hawks are still going to be very bad next year. Mrazek in net next year is more than fine. One franchise altering talent won't change the Hawks to contenders... but it is a MASSIVE step in the right direction.

Four of the next 5 are against the Blues, CBJ, Sharks, Yotes. Important stretch for the tank.

After watching Bedard play, I can't help but think there will be a lot of teams going in to full tank-mode from here on out.

Let's say we get Bedard what do you guys think of Koehn Ziemmer and Caden Price as our next two picks? Or maybe package Tampa's next year's #1 and move up to grab Matthew Wood or Quentin Musty?

Yes- I'm good with any of the top 4 and if it isn't Bedard, Michkov would be worth the wait. They'll get another couple lottery picks the next few seasons and will be on their way.

Rags fans talk this guy up but he has been an underperformer his whole career. In trade talks you would think a team is asking for Jesus Christ in a trade they way they pump this 3rd liners tires.

I’d still take him as part of a Kane trade with a first. Hell, a healthy scratch will make Rags fans okay with trading him. You’d be hard pressed to get a “better” prospect in a trade. I say that because I believe Gallant is bad at prospect development and Rangers don’t give him a lot of meaningful time. He’d be able to eat a ton of minutes on a rebuilding Hawks team. Him and Bedard next year…
The Rangers will owe Kakko more soon. Othmann will be up next year. Their core is somewhat locked in but could fit Kane if he took a discount. Make it happen.

I never really took the Gallant factor into consideration. I'm not a fan of his.

Kakko and others are able to improve just fine under Gallant. Lafreniere’s skating and lack of speed can’t be pinned on Gallant.

““He doesn’t seem to accomplish much out there with or without the puck,” said one NHL scout whose coverage area includes the Rangers. “When you watch him play it’s hard to find him out there, has little impact on the outcome. I don’t know if it’s lack of confidence but his processing seems a little bit of a step behind.”
“When you watch (Ottawa) play, you notice (Stützle,)” said an Eastern Conference executive who was granted anonymity because he’s not authorized to comment publicly on other teams’ players. “Can’t say the same about (Lafrenière).”
