any chance Bedard = Lafreniere?

Laf was next best thing when he was drafted and now he is scratched.

Is Columbus going to stay this bad all year or are they dealing with a lot of injuries? Didn’t expect them to be this garbo

Their top dman Werenski is out for year only played 11 games.

I didnt know the injury status so looked up and here is a quote from ESPN:

Werenski, however, is not the only player the Jackets will be without for an extended period. They also said defenseman Nick Blankenburg, center Sean Kuraly and winger Jakub Voracek have been moved to injured reserve.

Flyers beat Sharks in OT, best possible outcome with each fellow bottom feeder getting at least 1 point.

SovI went to Tankathon for my first spin ofvtheir lottery draft simulator of this season...

You will just HATE the shocking result.

1.Nashivlle gets the #1
2 STL gets tge #2
3.Hawks get #3

if this result occurs in the real lotto draws, then Hawks fans may be ready to jump off roofs or commit hara-kiri...

Can you possible imagine Bedard in Nashville and Fantilli in STL?

It boggles the mind...

Disaster!

Who can take so much losing onlyvto get this slap in the face as 2 hated Central rivals ....hated...get the prizes?

Hawks have to settle on who realkyvshoukd be #3..

Question marks...Carlsson? WAIT 3more seasons till Michkov (maybe) gets out of Russia? GO With somebody else?

The Tank will have been alkl for naught and we have to stomach our hatedxrivals feasting whike we draft uncertainty as to who realky is a clear #3 unless we risk on Michkov and thebigWAIT.

I expect the hockey godsxwill be unkind to us...but to rub it in with our most hated Central rivals getting the 2 top prizes?

Yikes!

Akso notcsure about Carlsson...has notbimoressed me much at WJHC so far...admittedly a lesser role for Sweden..2 a in 3GP to date..

Brayden Yager is not at WJHC ...hevus #5 on many rankings..41 otscin 33GPbtobdate for Moose Jaw this seadon...but hevis listed atv6'0 165 ...so a lot of muscle needscto beput on..

Ratgerblikexwhatvisxsee from young Dalibir DvoskybofcSlocakia....1g 1a so far forvtgecsSlovaks..but has played very well with God pkaysxand strenthbakongvthe boards and in defending and his goalvwas awicjed shot...the fact he only turnsx18bin June whike Carlsson already turned 18 is important. I THINK Dvosky has better upside than what I see from Carlsson.6+ months younger often makescachigecdevelopmentvdifferencebin assessing where kids are at in their draftvyear.

Michkov woukd be my choice...his offensive differenc maker ability is up there with Bedard...but the Wait and the Risk of getting him to the NHL...
I think you gotta try for a soecial talent over just a good pro potential player only.

I am justcsayin...bevoreoaredcto be disappointed when we do not getveitger BedardvorcFantilli...and then face toughest O'Callaghan decisions ...

Enough of all of that negative nellie narration!
It's ok to remain positive Mr. Fiddster.
The Hawks will win the 1st OA 2023 pick.
Ommmmmmmmmmmmmmmmm

Watched parts of the Columbus game last night. They are so poorly coached i am afraid they will be worse than us. Especially being in the East.

The East used to be weaker when the West was full of powerhouse teams but that has seemed to reversed in recent years.

There’s not a chance in hell that Bedard will be another Lafreniere.

I remember watching Laf play against Cape Breton the year he went 1st overall and I was anything but impressed with the guy. He played every minute of every powerplay they had and did not impress me at all. I know that’s only a 1 game sample but when I see what Bedard is doing in the World Juniors as a 17 year old, there’s no comparison.

I did 50 Tankathon drafts with the Hawks being at the bottom of the NHL:

24 3rd pick; 48%
10 2nd pick; 20%
16 1st pick; 32%

Tankathon says to expect:

55.7% 3rd
18.8% 2nd
25.5% 1st

We're almost at the halfway point fellas!!! Operation "Stankathon" to win the Tankathon is in full stride!!!

TANK HARD FOR BEDARD!!!
TANK HARD FOR BEDARD!!!
TANK HARD FOR BEDARD!!!
TANK HARD FOR BEDARD!!!

Quick question for those who might know, can Bedard still experience a final growth spurt to take him to an even 6 feet tall? Most sites now list him as 5.10.

Probably, but does it really matter?

I care more about how strong his legs are, how strong his work ethic is, and how skilled his is than whether he meets some arbitrary height cutoff. He’s not going to be the guy who goes and stand in front of goalies anyway, so I’m not sure what an extra few inches will matter.

Sure, many guys add an inch or three past the age of 17 (remember he doesn't turn 18 until next summer).

He isn't any shorter than Crosby but what Crosby has is a thick bottom half that gives him that solid base to make his lack of height insignificant. It looks to me that Bedard has added some girth in his legs which makes him tougher to knock off the puck and allows him to play a more physical game.
