Though, if 1 of those teams takes Michkov, I think it would be Columbus.

Jarmo wouldn't shy away from picking Michkov if it wasn't for the fact that he currently has two third liners manning their top 6 middle.

We are guaranteed to have the opportunity to draft one of Carlsson, Michkov or Smith with Dvorsky imo being next in the queue if we pass on Michkov. It is not Bedard but we have a very real opportunity to potentially draft a player who would have went #1OA last year.

I am all for combining FLA's pick and our second to move up into the high teens as this draft has a steep drop off in the late 1st and 2nd round. Last years 25-60 was far superior to this year's 25-60 imo.

I agree with him completely here. Woodlief has Michkov 2nd on his list. You can also see his list (as well as Simon Boisvert's and Grant McCagg's stupid list which you should ignore) earlier in the episode.

Some interesting thoughts on other prospects as well (he actually sees Bedard more as a goal scoring winger and gives some intriguing insights on Matthew Wood as well).

I just love how everyone has so many different opinions on the same player. Grant says Musty not getting invited to the U18 is a red flag and doesn’t seems to like him that much and Boisvert literally see the kid as being the potential steal of the draft and has him in his top 10

I do believe that Sharks take Michkov. Hopefully the Jackets really do like Smith, I think Carlsson will have a Stutzle like impact.

CBJ's Head of Pro Scouting is Sweden's GM at the World Championship, which happens to feature Carlsson as their 1C.

Imagine in 3 years we have Caufield on one line and Michkov on the other. Two legit 40 goal guys on opposite lines. Somehow get PLD. Slaf molds into the Rantanen type.

He is so easier to draft than Mailloux and maybe even Slaf when all the building scream for fckng Wright.

Michkov is the second best player in this draft. The gap between him and the other 3 you mentioned is huge.

If Michkov is there at 5, we better not f*** that up.

They have a pretty decent pure playmaker in Kent Johnson. They could also go Carlsson to balance that out.

Can someone provide some context on Michkov.

We all know that he is signed in Russia and can't come over until 2026/27 season.

Some things to think about.....

How do we make it happen to get him over earlier? What is the buyout clause in Russia and how does it work? Could we just pay Sochi the remainder of his contract plus incentives? Anyone know?

Also, if Michkov does come in 2026/27 is that when his ELC kicks in? Will it be a 3 year ELC from 21-24 years old? How does that work? If we pick him and it buys us time to dump dead weight like Gally or Andy that is huge IMO. Cap flexibility is very important in building a team.

Johnson is a winger, they need someone that will optimize Laine. I think that's more Smith than Carlsson.
