Could name 50 prospects I'd like, but there's one I find very intriguing, Juraj Pekarcik, and would love to hear his name today for the Habs. Wouldn't mind any of the 'top' goalies of this draft either, and one I think could help us very soon is Juha Jatkola, his D+3 season but he developed nicely enough.

Damn I want a 2nd round pick...

One thing that is concerning for me is if we draft no Russian players at all this year.

Imo, this is one of the better Russian draft classes in awhile. If we don't draft anyone this year again then the rumours about Montreal not wanting to draft Russian players is real. Last year wasn't that great, so easier to pass on them.

Arizona who drafted 2 Russians in 1st Round (yet passed on Michkov which was kind of hilarious actually) has a full-time Russian scout, and actually travel to Russia to watch players.

Montreal has no Russian scout, and sends no one into Russia. While people will blame HuGo for this, this is definitely on Molson, and it's political.

In essence, it's the late 80s / early 90s all over again when the European / Russian invasion really kicked in, Montreal ignored it and they were left in the dust mid-90s on. The organization rebounded only after Molson sold them.

Another day of disappointment incoming! Undersized forwards, lackluster defenders and a local kid or two to appease the media. Yippee.

Has there been a trend with teams with high draft power over a few drafts of taking Euro's to manage their 50 contract limit? I'm wondering if the Habs have this strategy and part of the reason why we traded for Newhook and drafted Reinbacher.

Habs are right up there with the most picks over the last 6 drafts.

If this is true, don't expect to get too many picks added to this draft. They may take future picks for trades with Eddy/Dvorak.

We have to liquidate some forwards and a defenseman. I'm really surprised Edmundson wasn't moved last night, maybe early today.

I'm surprised there were zero trades yesterday. I think it's the first time in like 10 years there were no trades during Round 1.

I'm expecting there will be today. Curious if Habs make a move to get back into the 2nd round.

A lot of mid 1st round talent still left on the board. Would have been a great draft to have a couple picks on the 30s.

The other angle I just spoke to is managing the 50 contract limit. Habs are right up there with the most picks over the last 6 drafts and we do have several guys we would like to sign.

It's very possible that we take future picks vs ones in this draft.

They better not trade pick 69

Marry and George were talking one day and George said he never had a 69 and ask.. what is that? Marry said sit down George, I'll show you. She got on top of him and farted. They tried for the 2nd time and she farted again.

George ran out the room and Marry said.. where are you going? George said, I'd be damed if I do that 67 more times.

Or take guys who you will have more years before deciding if you sign him or not (NCAA or Europe).

There's some insane value in that 2nd round. Can't imagine we won't be able to pick in it........The drop is insane after the 2nd.

I was pissed the second we dealt that pick.
it was a really let down... could have got more from trading with philly.. but no.
Kent is on the hot seat now with that pick. and the young guy said he is not coming to the NHL next year. Who says that after just getting picked?????
