Likely we're not getting another Nhler out of this draft since we have no more high picks. My wishlist is we trade Hoffman, Armia, Gallagher or another plug so we can be more excited for the start of the season.
No one, wants our 3 stooges....

On to day 2 guys, back away from the ledge.

Wish list?

Damn… maybe trade 2-3 of your players for 2nd-3rd picks.. so 90% of Quebec’s population talks about those instead of your last week work. Newhook and Reinbacher two moves that only the Belial of this world truly supports.

Hindsight will always be 20/20 but I am not happy with what has happened over the last two days. This is my dream scenario;

Not trade for Newhook. I understand that HuGo is expediting the rebuild and I am fine by it but I’d rather naturally build the team.

Trade #5 to Philly for #7 and #22. They obviously wanted Michkov.

7 - Reinbacher / Leonard
22 - Perreault
31 - Cristall
37 - Hrabel / Dragicevic / Morin / Lardis / Sawchyn / Brindley

Now that would have been a great haul.
Arizona was taking Reinbacher

Really hoping to see Dvorak or Edmundson go for a 2nd round pick today.. will suck to sit here until round 3.

But to start off today, here are my top 5 remaining players

  1. Michael Hrabal
  2. Riley Heidt
  3. Jacob Fowler
  4. Carson Bjarnason
  5. Lukas Dragicevic
I expect numbers 1,2, and 5 to go early today.

Oh lord please let Heidt fall to 69. Is that asking too much?
Yeah ....I thought so! Thanks anyway

Next habs pick is guaranteed a goalie. Wish there was a place to wager that lol

It's absolutely insane how some of our posters are insufferable. Posters that I barely see at all during most of the year posting everywhere they can about how the Reinbacher pick is horrible. I think once you made 2-3 comments, people start to understand that you're unhappy. Don't have to post it 50 times. It makes these boards borderline un-readable.

I get it, I would have preferred Michkov or Leonard, but that's personal preference only and I'm not a professional scout.

Anyways, hopefully we can shift some dead weight for a 2nd round pick, but it'll be tough I think.

We still have plenty of picks, I wouldn't be surprised if Hughes traded a few to go back in the second. It's not as deep of a draft as people keep saying so I wouldn't be mad if they didn't tho. If they trade back up in the second round it's probably to secure a goalie.

Really hoping we reacquire a second rounder somehow...but after the last couple days my faith on HuGo is really shaken :s

Newhook and Reinbacher is not what I expected with picks 5, 31 and 37

At picks 31 and 37, there are absolutely no guarantees you're getting an NHL player, let alone a solid contributor. It sucks in the sense that the event that you're looking forward to watching all year after a tough season (the draft) is not as interesting, but in the grand scheme of things, it's reasonable asset management as you're already getting a good young NHL player that still has some pretty decent upside.

True. I don't hate the Newhook move in a vaccuum, just wanted more from the 5th pick (we have a boatload of pretty good, not quite great D, Reinbacher fits that mold) so combined I'm left generally underwhelmed.

Yes exactly. It's the 5th overall pick that's clouding your view. Had it been Michkov and Newhook, most people would have been extremely happy.
