You could see the Mets hitters turning to ice weeks ago. This was completely foreseeable and the saddest thing is the Mets have been doing it for like fifteen years now. They were letting the Phillies catch them back in like 2007 over and over again.

Kinda incredible how such a successful 101 win season turned into complete horseshit in a two week span.

101 wins! And I genuinely don't care and have no positive sentiments about it.

It's 2005-06 Rangers to me.

The rough part is, there is no easy way to fix this. The pitching market is not very good this offseason. Keeping Bassit, deGrom, Diaz, and separately Nimmo is going to cost a small GDP. Cheaper or equivalent replacements are not a guarantee.

They can add Alvarez, Baty, Vientos and keep letting Peterson and MecGill develop but it's goin to guarantee a step back.

The WC round can be very cruel. Mets fans have seen it as the victor a few times in the past.

What's the remedy though? They are built a certain way. They need to continue developing hitters like McNeil for that ballpark.

The lineup never really impressed me beyond the top to middle of the order.

The only positive is now i dont have to choose between the NLDS andAnd the opening game for Rangers.
We did MLB a favor. We preserved the sanctity of the LDS namesake, with Philadelphia facing Atlanta and San Diego facing Los Angeles.

Disgusting performance on Friday and tonight. Most disappointing is Scherzer.

If this team wants to be good, they better have Wilson Contreras and Fransisco Alvarez behind the plate next season. If the Braves can have two good catchers, so can the Mets.

On top of that Marte moves to center and you find a corner outfield bat. Nimmo will cost too much. Leadoff hitter that doesn't steal bases.

McNeil, Lindor, Alonso and Marte. All other positions on the field are open. Canha should be a part timer. Escobar/Baty works for me. Don't bring back a single deadline guy.

Nimmo is super important. I disagree whole heartedly with you. Guy is always on base, works counts, and his defense is superb. I would absolutely re-sign him.

Nimmo had the same OBP as Canha. His defense as a CF has improved to about average and has no arm. IMO he should only play LF as Marte is better in CF and is all around the better player. I agree with the notion that he will cost more than he is worth to replace since he somehow has a 5.5 WAR .But unless the Mets make a trade or sign Judge I don't see any one out there to replace him.

MLB: Schedules a day off on Wednesday for literally no reason

Thursday: Rains

Amazing performance by Musgrove. Amazing stupidity by Showalter on the substance check. Knew it was over after that nonsense.
That was the most entertaining part of that entire game from a Mets fan perspective so I am glad he at least gave us that.

One thing about the Mets is, how much more friggin' money can they spend to field a team that can advance in the playoffs? They gonna have to pay Aaron Judge? If they don't pay DeGrom then next year their pitching will suck and let them down.
