I don't know much about Mendoza but I'm glad they didn't hire Counsell. I didn't like the idea of basically just taking the whole Milwaukee FO and coaching staff and moving it here. Try to build something with the people you think are best, not just the people you know.

Well there is an actual track record for relevancy here.

The issue becomes when people become so married to them that they will side with whats on the page rather than what is happening on the field on any given day (See: Rays vs. Dodgers game 6 2020, Aaron Boone's entire Yankee tenure, etc.)

Plus some teams are just better at data ulitization than others. The Astros have cheated their asses off but they have been so far ahead of the game on the shit that is actual legal as well, analytics included.
