Fixed that for you. As I recall, the yanks and red sox were both fined for cheating also. What they did wasn't on the same scale as what the astros did so no one really cared aside from some annoying met fans but its not exactly the moral high ground either.

Like comparing a paper cut to a gunshot wound.

Again maybe you and @nyr2k2 are in the massive minority, but something tells me that had the Mets lost to the Astros in meaningful playoff baseball when they were doing shit (and yes, Relaying signs in real time and employing a buzzer system is WAY beyond what anyone else was doing) the tune would have been different. I know it would have been amongst the fan base.

No one found evidence of any buzzers. That was just speculation but people see what they want to see. Meanwhile the yankees and sox were fined for using electronic equipment to relay signals to batters.

The problem is not so much the cheating (which believe it or not, every team does to some extent). The problem is that the leagues are so comically inept at being transparent that they are inadvertently making themselves and other teams look like mustache twirling villains regardless who you're a fan of. The NFL destroys spygate tapes to prevent them from becoming public and MLB fights in court to prevent the public from finding out about past fines due to rules circumvention.

How much worse is one teams cheating vs another? Fans can argue but argue facts not speculation.

I don't think there is anything wrong with Yankees fans being upset about the Houston thing, or anyone that fell to New England being upset about that. When your opponent cheats and you lose, I think it's pretty natural to be upset. My perspective has always been, however, that with this kind of cheating I kind of expected most teams to be doing it to some degree. Sign stealing has existed forever, why wouldn't teams be taking advantage of modern technology? I'm not condoning it, I just honestly and truly believed it was/is pretty common. When that scandal broke, I was like, "Is everyone not doing something like this? I hope the Mets have something if everyone else does!"

This thing that's happening in college football with Michigan--don't care about it. LOL. I mean I find it fascinating, sure, but the idea that a school was sending a guy to record the opponents from the stands? I find it completely implausible that this isn't going on in some form at dozens of other institutions. How could it not be?

I don't find it any different than guys using PEDs. There's a lot of nuance to that IMO but at the end of the day it's illegal. Or, it's illegal now. But like the other shit, when it became a thing, my reaction was, "But didn't we know this? Or, shouldn't we have known this?"

So in the end I'm not judging you or anyone else for being upset about Houston, New England, whoever. It's totally logical to be outraged. I'm also not arguing "if the shoe were on the other foot" that a large percentage of Mets fans wouldn't be outraged. I guess if I disagree with you on one thing, it's that anecdotally I have reason to believe there are a lot more people who feel the way I do than you might otherwise think.

Anyway, back to regular programming. Go Snakes!

You mean you're still not outraged that a roided up clemens didn't get tossed from game 2 after throwing a bat at piazza? :D

@Machinehead

Told ya.

Rangers went from being a 100 loss team to a WS participant (and favorite if Arizona wins tonight) in 2 years. Spending money is the quickest way to a turn around in baseball. Sometimes it doesn't work (Padres, Mets) but there are a ton of teams that have flipped things around pretty quickly by opening up the checkbook (I imagine we'll see the Mariners in this conversation soon and perhaps even Mets when they decide to do it again.)

Must be nice.

I know right?

I took as much pleasure in Cashman looking like a dumb ass as I did in the Astros losing last night.
Never forget that Bryce Harper was willing to play 1B to play for the Yankees and the Yankees were just like "a free agent superstar??? That'll cost at least $10."

Does anyone else get annoyed when a team representing a city plays a team representing another city/region in that state but uses the state's name for their name?

I hate and am annoyed by the Islanders as well.
I don't mind the Islanders as much as I hate in UBS Arena how much shit from NYC they're appropriating for themselves. When they score a goal, the Empire State Building shows on the jumbotron, and all over the walls of the concourses has famous NYC bars and restaurants.

Because if there's one thing you think of when you think Long Island, it's Cafe Wha.

Nice season for Scherzer to go from the sticky stuff suspension and general mess that was the Mets season to playing in the World Series.
