Mauricio is starting at 2b tonight for AAA… time for his transition

Its happening, he will be our starting 2b by the end of may as long as he keeps hitting. McNeil will slide to LF

I’d love that but it’s gonna take him longer to learn the position that’s passable at a major league level. He’s not a defensive savant.

1 of 2 deals for NYY

Baumgartner is toast. something like 10.25 era
owed what 30m?
Hicks similar $
Donaldson less $$ and term, but still deadweight
Arguably Hicks/Donaldson more productive than Baum
[even if close to auto out, that is still better than a guy giving up runs]
--- IKF also surplus but ok

Hicks full pop + Donaldson at 2/3s + IKF
for
Baumgartner + a cheap prospect

not much either way
ny sends baum to AAA before presum buying him out

creates space on roster, both OF + INF

This kind of shit from Peterson kills this team that has already been so reliant on the pen. Thank god Lucchesi did what he did last night.

2 of 2 deals for NYY
[In deal 1 Hicks, Donaldson + IKF were dumped for dead armed Baumgartner.]

forget Trout, Ohtani, etc

Orioles C Adley Rutschman is the real deal.
Like potentially Johnny Bench good, just started his career.

Would require at in signif if not massive overpayment, but if I go there if it is in the currency I am willing to part with.

this is at least borderline massive, imo + O's see it is so much added they do it:

high end OF prospects Cabrera + Periera
high end C Trevino
high end 2B Torres
mid ++ pitcher Severino
high end prospect -.> good enough to stick w/the club Germain

for

Rutschman
2 prospects or draft picks

Like I said, O's get a lot to use/leverage

Yanks:
add a core backstop
resolve excess INF,
Lemahieu = reg 3B, Peraza = reg SS, Volep = reg 2B

small wince on loss of quality OFs, but still have Judge for some CF and corner OF.
If we want Stanton to play position w/some DH, this creates room
theoretically we have Bader
Florial has never cut it but has all the tools
Can give him relief for def purposes, hope lightning strikes in a bottle upping his value, and he is dealt, but again, covers immediate depth need and is better than Hicks
Cordero/Calhoun are vet depth prob just for this yr and the above gives them the odd game or 2 to play the field and stretch their legs

Jason Dominguez may challenge as early as next year, but even if he takes a little bit more and is not rushed, he is a higher end prospect.
Spencer Jones is a Judge sized top selection now at A ball another one here in coupla yrs

ny's top C prospect is Austin Wells, 100% big league bat, not 100% def maj-leag C.
When Wells is ready to challenge as first backup backstop, not having to start may be helpful. And 2 higher end OFs getting dealt also works here.

That leaves pitching.
Yes, it's a coupla arms less but it is still overall worth it.
We have enuf arms to compete until 2-3 guys emerge.

Thoughts?

According to fielding percentage, Ozzie Smith was nothing special.
Dat's da Wizzard of Ahhhsssss.
Say it ain't so!

This mets team sort of reminds me of the rangers and the handling of our kid line.

The mets are in win now mode and not a development team.

The mets play vets over Kids because of this and because of large contracts blocking them.

The kids are actually the key to us winning this year but that is not realized yet by management.

The kids are finally given a real chance and become good, but not great but because of this the team is feared because they bring depth throughout the lineup.

I just wish we can skip all the bs and move to the last part. But such is life lol.
The next time I emphasize youth over vets, basically but not exclusively to be ahead of cap so as to better manage roster, I would appreciate somebody remembering this.

I think I would have enjoyed this much more on Thursday.

I will give him credit, he hung in there. I mean obviously a bad start by any measure but at least he was able to go 5 innings. He needs to be a lot better though or else he'll be the odd man out when/if the Mets get healthy.

Is it just me or after every game when i see the Mets relievers in the box score i go “who the f*** is that?”

Like these names are pulled out of a hat. Ive never heard of half our relievers apparently .

Wow, the Yankees are really bad. Tonight is truly a giant shit sandwich.
The definition of stupidity is..

This is the same exact strategy offense Cashman has put out for the past decade. A bunch of HR or nothing guys who can’t hit for average. This was the same thing last year and when you just resign Judge and sign a 1.5 year wonder injury prone SP in Rodon and call your off-season job done, what do you expect? The only difference between now and last season is Judge carried the offense and likely won’t replicate his performance this year making the lineup even worse.
