Why is every comment Yankees fans make met with "yeah but the Mets ran over my cat" ???

We didn't ask.
Go ahead, Mets. Run over my cat. Burn my house down. Interlope into my family to become my new dad then intentionally give me inferior Christmas presents to your own kids.

They can’t hurt me anymore than what they’ve already done!

Every time after watching the Yanks my 8 year old son tries to do that stupid uppercut to heaven swing, hooking from his shoe laces up to his nose. I told him if I see him doing that again no dessert for like a freakin week which set him straight. Harsh but necessary. SWING STRAIGHT THROUGH THE BALL WITH A LEVEL SWING GOD DAMNIT

This might be the funniest post I've ever seen.

Oh wait, you’re not here to defend Cole giving up 50 home runs?

Are there 2 pitchers who were affected by the sticky substance ban more than Cole and Chapman? Cole went from a bonafide ace to a top of the rotation starter good for 1-2 hr per outing, his feel for his pitches is not the same. His control is average and he often gets too much of the plate. He still has high quality stuff, but guys will run into one if you throw it over the plate, even with good spin rate or whatever. And Chapman was all over the place following the ban, and injuries likely due to overthrowing to compensate was the nail in his coffin.

Am I rewriting history here?

He’s gone ;

Getting the chance to wear the pinstripes and play right field at Yankee Stadium, that’s an incredible honor that I definitely didn’t take for granted at any point,’’ Judge said following the 6-5 loss at the Stadium. “Very few individuals get a chance to do that… and play in front of the fans for my whole six years here. It was a special time. I just kick myself for not bringing home that championship.”

Cole. definitely.

Chapman's velocity has ebbed away for years now and it's finally at the point where it's nothing special. Without the gimmick of consistently hitting 103+, he's just not that good a pitcher.

I feel like Judge is headed to the Bay Area. The Giants are his childhood team, and if he wanted to be here he would’ve signed. They have a new ownership group that wants to spend money and make a splash, what bigger splash than to get the best hitter in the league?

I also think it’s time for the Yankees to move on from Boone, and especially Cashman. How long do you get to keep doing this? He got to tear the team down to the studs and rebuilt it into the same exact team that needed to be rebuilt in the first place. The farm system doesn’t produce players consistently, and some of his moves are real head scratchers, the trade for IKF and Donaldson made no sense.

Boone should be banned from New York for turning to the 2004 Red Sox as inspiration.

Heyman - it’s time to buy a Edwin Diaz
his list is.
  1. Re-sign Aaron Judge. -
  2. Sign Justin Verlander (or Carlos Rodon if Verlander insists on remaining an Astro).
  3. Sign Trea Turner or Carlos Correa
  4. Sign Edwin Diaz
OK on Judge.
OK on Rodon. Why not DeGrom?
No to Turner or Correa.
Yes to Diaz.

After signing Judge, we need a bonafide ace and literally an entire bullpen. a 7-8-9.

Whoever thought of this as an inspirational thing needs to be fired right away.

Like...HELLO????...Rizzo is right there from the Cubs being down 3-1 in the WORLD FREAKING SERIES TO WINNING THE DAMN THING. YOU DON'T NEED A SPECIFIC REVERSE SWEEP TO GET THE POINT ACROSS.

We don't need a shortstop. Play the kids.

Would be ok with it if one of them is willing to move to 3B. The market for 3B kind of sucks.

To play Devil's Advocate, the Angels call and say they want Volpe, Cabrera, Dominguez, Gleyber, and a few more middling prospects for Ohtani, do you do it? I'm not sure Peraza is the answer personally.

I'm kind of torn on it.

I'm not sure one player is ever worth that.

At the same time, as I've mentioned, I think Volpe and Peraza already both have the strikeout bug, so they're not off limits for a player like Ohtani.

Of course, in this scenario, we would then need a 2B and still need a 3B.

?? Ohtani strikesout a metric ton

He's the perfect Yankee player. He'd come here. Bat .250. Hit 35 HR's and Strikeout 200 times. Exactly what we need

Volpe 118k's in 511ABs. That's average for nowadays.

Peraza seems slightly above average.

I wouldn't give up that much if he wasn't personally, so for the sake of the thought exercise let's say yes.

That’s a tough decision because I really like Dominguez. I would probably do it but the Yankees really need to prioritize players who hit for average, no more one dimensional ball players.

Yeah, but he's Ohtani.

There's a short list of players you don't say no to and then you figure out how he suits the team later.

Ohtani is on that list.
He'd be a good value pickup. A $20+M hitter and a $20+M pitcher, in one. If Hal can get him for $25-30M, he's on board.

Is Stanton playing LF in this scenario?

I'm for the more simple approach. Sign Judge. Let the kids play. Sign Benitendi. Add an ace if you can and completely revamp the bullpen.

It will cost big $$$ though
