It's annoying too, because I feel like Friedman, whom I otherwise respect a lot, has been one of the people to peddle Gibson rumours for as long as he's been rumoured to "want out", so you can't even take this as an educated guess backed by unnamed sources.

Like, sure, it could be true, but it could just as well be the continuation of a previous misconstrued feeling of his.
There's so much to keep track of for him that it's impossible to be right about even most things. He does his job well, so he knows what names to throw out there to keep up the buzz.

But yeah, even listening to "The Player's Lounge" interview with Gibson and Zegras, he doesn't sound like a guy that can't stand it here.

I'm sick of other other team's fans acting like we need to pay to get rid of Gibson. Does he has negative value? Maybe. But it doesn't matter because we have absolutely no incentive to trade him. We ARE the team that takes on cap dumps so why would we give up assets or retain 50% on 4 more years to move one?

To me there is no chance Gibson moves because no team is going to offer assets that make it worth our while right now. And that's fine. We just keep him and keep sucking. Any goalie you put in net behind this defense is going to put up sub .900 if they play more than a few games. It's just not possible to save a million shots when opposing player are completely alone in the slot. It is what it is.

I have to feel like Gibson just needs to see some signs of improvement and hope lol

We won’t be competitive for another two years anyway. We are that depleted in talent - and will be moreso after this deadline (if Klingberg, Kulikov, Henrique, Comtois are traded) . Terry, Zegras, MacTavish and Lundestrom can’t do it all.

I’m sure Gibson will be over it sooner or later

Pagnotta saying the Kraken like Henrique, they have some prospects with intriguing upside. Who would you target from them?
Kraken would need to shed some salary to make a retained Henrique work. what about Soucy ($2.75m, UFA) with an extension in place and a pick? Ducks are thin on the left side after Cam & adding a solid vet on that side take some pressure off of the expectation of Zellweger & LaCombe stepping right in next season.

edit: added info. Soucy’s entry defense is pretty solid.

I'd prefer Henrique to an extended Soucy, though I would be all for going after him in UFA

Makes more sense for Seattle to trade Soucy for assets to clear space if they need to. It certainly wouldn't be in our best interest to take him back as an asset in a Henrique deal.

Pens have limited cap space and don't want to fork over for rentals. Henrique at 2.9M for this year and next, seems like an ideal fit.

It makes sense for them and lots of other teams. Unfortunately, pens don't have much to offer and probably should be tearing it down (but won't).

A first and a decent forward prospect. Fowler doesn't fit the competitive window here.

I think that's an incredibly light return for a 2/3 d-man in his prime signed for 3 more years on a decent deal.

Are you planning to tank next year too? Because Cam is the only dependable D-man the ducks have signed for next year. Drysdale will return. After that, they have Vak, White, and Benoit (RFA). If you move Fowler, you're just creating another hole that needs to be filled in the offseason - probably with a downgraded player.

Even if he's not in the duck's competitive window, you need to keep fowler around to ice a team and to mentor the young guys. No need or reason to trade him for at least 2 years.

I like winger Ryan Winterton. A 6'2 and around 200 lbs two-way player who's offense is still developing. His forte before getting drafted was a very good defensive minded player who can shutdown top lines and play on the PK. Winterton's offensive game came to life when he returned from injury and got paired with recent trade acquisition McTavish. That duo was great for Hamilton, including playing that grinding game on offense! We're missing good two-way guys.

There is a huge problem with Winterton, he's missed significant time off the ice due to injuries/surgeries. I'd probably want a 1st rd pick, Winterton (a 2021 3rd rd pick), and another prospect like D Nyman (a 2022 2nd rd pick). That means we're probably eating a huge portion of Rico's contract.

According to Wheeler's Kraken prospect ranking, Nyman ranks 6th and Winterton ranks 7th.
