Why don't you want him? He is putting up better point totals than Cooley did last year...
Work ethic. Lazy play. Cherry picking. A coach’s nightmare as you will have to spend years teaching him the position. It’s not just about skill.

Mcbain over Geekie? Or are we already writing Geekie off?
Geekie is a really good prospect.

Will see what happens, but Lambert is looking like quite a bit better of a prospect right now. Kinda wishing that the Yotes kept their draft capital and drafted Lambert at #27 instead. I am a bit worried that the scouts fell in love with the size of the player, and overlooked some of his weaknesses.
You realize up until Seattle that Lambert’s season was a bit of a disaster right. Horrible WJC. Poor AHL performance.

Geekie worries me too. If he doesn't pan out it makes me wonder if the scouting staff overvalues size over everything else. Also the price of 27th, 34th and 45th is way too high if ends up being like maximum of third liner.

Go watch Lambert play. He looks head and shoulders above Geekie right now in the WHL. There is a reason he was supposed to be a top 5 pick at one time. The guy will be a better player than Geekie, and I'd bet money on it. Geekie is slow in a fast mans league. Lambert is fast in a fast mans league.

You may be right about Smith, but based on stats he looks very impressive. I have not looked into the player in detail.

He hasn't progressed at all since last year, which is not good. Even his faceoff % hasn't improved by much. His big scoring games were against some of the worst teams in the WHL, which has definitely inflated his stats. He is also not consistent in his game. The guy can be unreal one game and then dog shit the next two.

EDIT: I will admit though that his face-off percentage has steadily increased each year though, which is a positive.

What’s the wager?

I watch a lot of CHL hockey. No question who’s better at that level today. Let’s let Geekie grow into his body though.

Geekie can grow into his body all he wants, but he will never be able to skate like lambert. I love players that play the game with pace. Cooley was a home run pick by BA, Geekie is a slow skating project that projects as a third liner. Lambert will be a top six stud. I'd bet if I knew you haha

First player to 300 games and the other guy can gloat. I will be happy to be wrong obviously had Lambert ahead of lamerouz but i had Geekie at 11ov last year.

Geekie isn’t slow. He moves extremely well when he chooses to. It’s absurd to say he “projects” as a third liner. Have you seen this kid play hockey?

yes i have watched him lots. he is slow at getting to top speed. once he starts going he can skate but that takes a few minutes haha. i see a player who takes nights off and in my eyes isn't a cooley type who has that compete level nightly.

sounds like a deal.

I don’t agree with this at all.

Yep that’s true.
i want him to succeed but I think he will be a third line guy in the show. More of a defensive specialist. I don't see him playing in the NHL for at least 3 years also.

For sure.
Don't worry Michkov and Cooley will lead this team in the year 2027. Geekie can be a secondary piece that will be along for the ride. I have a feeling that Michkov is gonna drop in this draft and will snag him with the 4th or 5th pick.

Ottawa plays .500 rest of the way and drops to 11 and then wins the lottery and moves up to 1st - can't everyone see this happening given the lottery luck the Coyotes have.

Complete nightmare and worse case scenario as the next year with added maturation of it's players and Bedard, they will absolutely make the playoffs and then our pick which was #11 is now #24...haha, classic Coyotes! #ThisIsTheWay

I've figured out that I only want one of Bedard/Fantilli/Carlsson/Michkov

and one of them has to fall to 5th, but there is 0% chance they will be around at 8 or 9
Gotta remember a team higher in the standings can win the lottery and jump past Arizona.

For all the hatred spewed about this franchise and still the blatant tanking, I bet there are zero words about how the team at least tried to compete.

People would rather see a team that had Kane, Toews, Stanley Cups, and a scandal get the 1OA than a team that has always been down on it's luck.

A-holes! Lol!

Edit: Not to mention just how bad CHI was for years to get there through the draft.

Not the 2023 draft, but "2023 off season business" ... Coyotes rights to Axel Bergkvist, Manix Landry, Emil Martinsen, Aku Raty and Anthony Romano expire this summer. Do you see any of them getting a contract offer? Or are these guys all Chayka draft picks that Armstrong doesn't want?

Bergkvist has been putting up solid numbers in Sweden on the back end, and given how thin the organization is on the blue line, I'd like to see him signed, assuming a spot in Tucson is enough to entice him over. The rest ... ehh ...
